Finally able to post about the competition this weekend at the 2026 Cameron Elks BBQ Cook Off Not ideal cell reception where we were, so here we go. Weathered some storms and wind, but had a great time. We did the one meat rib cook on Friday night and finished 9th with a 175. Definitely happy with that after the last contest rib debacle. In the master contest, we finished with 2 calls:
10th in chicken
7th in pork
Had a rough one in ribs and brisket but thought they were a bit better than where we landed. We will figure out consistency eventually, so back to the drawing board. As always, Carl Mcbee ran a great contest and it was good to see our good friends Phil Morrow and Rosemary Morrow and many others we haven't seen in a while.
Congrats to Triple H BBQ on GC and Man Meat BBQ on RGC.

Made it back from Derby Kansas for the Smoke on the Plains BBQ fest. Had a great time catching up with bbq family. It has definitely been too long. Here were the results:

3rd in Chicken
14th in Brisket
34th Ribs (dry)
DAL in pork (missed all my marks)
26th overall out of 36 teams.

I learned alot on this first trip out in 6+ years.

I'm thinking we have never finished last in a category since we started competing. I suppose you need a reality check once in a while.

Congrats to Meat Candy Q on GC and Bad Dog BBQ on RGC.

On to the next.

Well, its 6 years later, time to get back at it I suppose. Let's see how we fare at a few BBQ contests this year. Let's also see how much rust we have to knock off. Should be interesting.

Derby KS, June 12-13
Excelsior Springs, MO Aug 14-15
Burlington KS, Sept 5-6 (Double, oh my!)
American Royal, Sept 30 Oct 4th

Will be good to see some of you out there. Been a while.
