Super excited about our latest addition, Eric Clapton from Tri-N Charolais in Manitoba Canada will be Iowa bound soon! He is a red non diluter with a well balanced epd spread and lots of growth. His sire caught our eye and French influence on the dam side is definitely going to make some exciting 2026 calves!

Excited to present our first calf out of the red Canadian bull we bought last year.

Born yesterday, he is a bull calf out of our 188 cow. A light straw color and he weighed only 70lbs at birth! We even checked the scale for accuracy afterwards and it checked out perfectly. Can't wait for more calves to come this year.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

For your viewing pleasure is our honorary cow of the year. She has calved twice in 2024.

1st calf of the year on Jan 4th.

And then again yesterday December 24th.

We'll get her on a much more appropriate breeding schedule going forward.

But seeing a new healthy mama and baby yesterday definitely lifted some spirits that needed lifted.

*and I absolutely told her to take that beautiful clean baby to a cleaner, dryer spot!*

Snapped some quick pics few days ago of the new bull. We wanted to try a Red Charolais but with 2 generations building a solid herd ahead of us we definitely needed a bull that brought more than just color to the table. John is heavy muscled with lots of width, a good set of feet, a nice clean shoulder, calm temperament and a back side that would make JLO jealous! We are excited to see what he does and he is definitely ready to get to work.

Hazel and her cow let me tell you. Hazel's cow spotted her while we were walking down to the barn this afternoon and walked over to the gate and waited.

I don't know if Hazel trained her cow or if her cow trained Hazel but it just leaves me shaking my head.

Which I'll be first to admit that Hazel's little Heifer calf out of this cow is a heck of a looker and is as chill as can be. She already loves her scratches at 5 days old.

I don't know if I'm more proud of Hazel or jealous the cow/calf pair isn't mine 🤣

It's a big day for Hazel Rose.

Her heifer had a baby!

So a couple years ago she started spoiling this little Heifer calf of Grandpa's. This little Heifer was destined to go to the fat lot due to her being a fall calf and not really fitting into breeding plan at the time. Every day all summer long she diligently hand fed her grass. Long story short... it came time to send her town or to toss her in with the bull. Grandpa tossed her in with the bull.

Today she had a calf. A big healthy Heifer calf. Hazel couldn't be more excited.
