I was a couple weeks late getting my splits done this year. The bees already had swarm cells made and spilling out of 3 deep boxes. Made 7 splits off of 2 hives. Still have a few more to get done.

We are back in Buffalo Ridge Orchard farm store again this year. Today is opening day 10-4

The bees took advantage of the nice weather today to get some orientation and cleansing flights in. All 5 hives alive and looking healthy

We now have our product available at Parlor on Main! They have great food and of course ice cream! Try them out if you haven’t.

We are excited to offer local Hickory Hill Honey at Parlor! Stop in to try it out. We have their regular honey as well as creamed honey, lip balm, and magnesium lotion!

Was able to get out and check on the bees this morning. Had to clean some dead bees from the entrances . All 5 hives still buzzing. Hopefully they will get a warm enough day to get out for a cleansing flight the next couple weeks.

We have our table all setup for the Rockwell Craft Fair at Radisson Hotel 1200 Collins Road NE Cedar Rapids. It will be open tomorrow and Friday 9am-7pm and Saturday 9am-3:30pm. So many great tables to check out! Come see us!

Rockwell Craft Fair is coming in hot and we are too. We have 2.5 oz hot honey available starting opening day, one week from today. They will be $3.25 ea and we are working on a larger container option as well. 🔥 🐝

The bees have done very well this year. One week after installing packages I was able to take a frame of brood and 1/3 of the bees from each hive and do a walk away split. 3 weeks later I was able to take 2 frames of brood from each package and make two more splits that I purchased mated queens for. So I was up to 5 hives at the end of May ready to build up for the honey flow. This past weekend I pulled my honey supers off and harvested 260 pounds of honey. Very happy with that result in 3 months from 2 packages. Let me know if you would like some fresh local honey! 🍯
