We have been busy this year with Wapsi Weaving so the weeding is not getting the attention it needs. We have decided not to have an open garden this year. See you next year!

Welcome to Wapsi Weaving!!! This will be our new fb page.

Wapsi Weaving is a journey to create a meaningful impact. We moved to a farm outside Central City in 2017 with our two daughters, Emma and Brianna. Our youngest, Brianna, has Down syndrome. It is challenging to find a job that would embrace her talents and skills, so we are creating one. Brianna has found a purpose in working with fibers and looms, and we are committed to helping her make this a career.

Our journey began on our farm, using wool from our CVM and Lincoln sheep breeds to create handmade woven products. Brianna’s need for employment sparked an idea: to turn our hobby into a small, family-run business that also serves a larger purpose.

We are located in the Amvets / Legion building in Central City, a place we’re bringing back to life with a variety of looms, some as old as the building itself. Every purchase or class taken supports our mission: to provide meaningful inclusive employment opportunities for adults with disabilities in our community.

We hope that Wapsi Weaving will be more than a business—but a community dedicated to inclusion, craftsmanship, and preserving the art of weaving.

We open November 29-30 from 10-5. We hope you can join us for some cookies (Simply Homemade Sweets & Treats) and cider and explore our new space. Thank you, Lolly Leferink for the lovely arrangements.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

We shared last week that Ben and Brianna were weaving together. Now we want to share the next steps!

Introducing Wapsi Weaving! This new venture will provide meaningful jobs in weaving and fiber arts for adults with disabilities, with profits going toward hiring even more team members.

We’re setting up in the old AMVETS building in Central City, bringing it back to life with looms as old as the building itself. We will be looking for volunteers to help us bring this vision to life and become a part of the community.

We visited Ability Weavers in Lowell, Michigan this week and want to thank them for sharing their vision with us. We also enjoyed our visit to Annandale Art and Textile Center earlier this year. If you are in the area - we highly recommend visiting both of these.

Mark your calendars - our grand opening will be on Black Friday! We’re excited to have you join us on this journey. Stay tuned for more details!
