πŸ˜†We finally had a not red calf, ha! I told Doug it would have been much easier for Gavin and me if the first four born while he was gone didn't look alike. πŸ€­πŸ™ƒ But I am thankful to this Mama for waiting until the day after he got back! πŸŽ‰ Number 5 for the season!

Free range alpacas! πŸ« πŸ™ƒπŸ€” Doug was gone on a business trip for so long that during his first time doing morning chores since coming home, he forgot how to lock the gate! 🀭

Thankfully, these boys are much easier to get in than the calves and all you need to do is literally tell them to go back in. πŸ™‚

Doug was working in Brazil and Paraguay for the last two weeks 😳πŸ₯΄ and we MISSED him! So much happened while he was gone, but it was rewarding to know that Gavin and I could keep up with everything along with help from Doug's brother and dad in the hard and unexpected moments. 🫢🏻

Now, on to more field work before the rain this week! πŸ€ͺπŸ™‚ Never a dull moment around here!

Let the field dinners begin! πŸ™‚ Tonight's menu: shredded beef from our farm-raised steer on homemade sourdough dinner rolls, grapes, zucchini bread straight from the oven, cottage cheese, and chips! Cooking is like a love language for me- I may not know how to help out in the fields at all, but I can make food! πŸ™ƒ

It felt like Doug went straight from the plane into the tractor πŸ€ͺ but it's nice to be getting some things done while the weather is beautiful! β˜€οΈAnd bonus today- James and Nolan got to help out and hang out all day and loved every minute!οΏΌ

Not gonna lie, they are really hard for me to tell them apart. 🫣 It took Gavin and I 10 minutes just to talk through which baby was whose and which one was just born and needed us to give it the newborn vaccine thing (technical term…I still don't know what I'm doing mostly, but I've come a long way 🫠). But we got it figured out! οΏΌ

οΏΌAnd the mamas all seemed to be confused for a hot minute tonight too, which was comical. I wish I would've gotten a video! 🀭 They sure are cute though! πŸ€—πŸ«ΆπŸ»

When you go to check on the calf that was born on Friday night only to find another calf on the ground that you didn't expect yet. 😬πŸ€ͺ🩷

Strawberry had her baby apparently this morning! πŸ™ƒ SO happy this one went smoothly and we didn't need to intervene at all! πŸ™ŒπŸ» She's being a very attentive mama and it's so cute to see the little one with a bounce in its step trying to catch up to her. πŸ€—

Is it strange that I could sit and watch the calves all day? 🀣 When I told Doug the news, he joked that I am officially a cattle farmer. πŸ€ͺπŸ˜† Part of me wants to make myself a shirt now that says that. 🀭
