I was planning to close down this page, but there are too many dear memories here, so will instead keep it open and post periodic memories and photos from the farm for anyone interested, but perhaps mainly for myself. I may also post my current photography. Farms are amazing places to raise a family, teach valuable life lessons, and let our children work hard & run free. Here they experience joy and creativity on a level that only nature can provide. Having raised our 9 children here in the outskirts of Carlyle, IL. until every last one has left our home and gone into the world to "seek his fortune", Dave and I have sold the farm to two wonderful neighbors and moved into a lovely neighborhood not far away. We searched for months and found amazing farms all over the midwest, to purchase our beloved livestock - my wonderful mama sheep flock of cheviots, our boer goats, Clydesdale and riding horses, A2A2 raw milk jersey cows, poultry, and most of our faithful farm dogs. Some of you attended and found useful tools at our farm auction 2 years ago. It was a difficult and tearful separation for all involved, but was aided by the excitement of many families who were either just starting their own homesteads, or were benefitted by excellent livestock for existing businesses. We brought our beautiful golden retriever, Dawn, with us, little boy Spencer's Christmas suprise. She has resettled very well and is enjoying living the indoor life of a pampered pet, but must miss her farm buddies. April and Bryna & hubbies have moved their families to the west, to be nearer our to extended family and grandchildren. Our children have all graduated highschool and are pursuing their own lives & dreams. None felt ready to take on a farm. Since we sold, grandchildren are popping up all over, and growing like the weeds their parents pulled, picked and played in on the farm. They are all so precious!
Please allow me to thank all those who participated in the farm on some level. Many of you worked here, played here, bought here, or sold here. All were appreciated, loved and are in our hearts still. Thank you for your part in helping us build the lasting memories of our McConauchie Manor Farm days which are forever etched in our memories and hearts. We had hoped to keep the farm "forever" for our family to work and play on, serve the community, and pass down. But some things are not meant to be. Our children seem to be gravitating back to the western states where our own parents were raised and where so much family continues to beckon to them. However, Dave is an Illinois boy, and will continue to serve in the local hospitals and in our religious community. We are here to stay. So, thank you again for all the memories you have helped us to build. I hope we have helped you build a few happy memories as well.
