Had a hive that abscond today. I was there about 10 days ago replacing frames I took for honey.
It was full of wax moth larve. I pulled all 30 frames and put them in the freezer. It's a horizontal hive so guess I will wash it out and look for a nuc next year. My first ever loss. đŸ˜’

Received an email from our Illinois Regional Apiary Inspector. She's coming out to check on my bees. I am looking forward to hearing what she has to say and advice she has to offer. Nothing like when at work the Bank Examiners were coming. Ha!

I set up my first ever swarm trap in hopes of capturing free bees. (I was too scared last year to get the swarm we saw last year!) I see some curious bees. We'll see.
