All farm operations will be shut down for the time being. Unfortunately we will not be hatching chicks starting next month like we normally do. We are praying to get things back to normal soon. The following is a repost from my personal page.
This is going to be a very hard post for me. Part of me wants to remain deeply private and the other part knows there is strength in numbers and I need that right now.
I was just diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive form of leukemia. Less than 1% of people that get leukemia get this one. The odds of remission or survival are very small. You know me, I’ve always gone big or gone home. lol.
I will be getting treatment at UAB starting next week. They are very capable and I really like my oncologist. I know I will get the very best care there. The goal is to get me close to remission so that I can get a bone marrow transplant. That would give me more time. Right now there are too many cancer cells to do so as it is very fast growing. Without it I most likely have only months to live.
What I need right now is some good old fashioned faith and prayers. Good thoughts. Good wishes. All are welcome.
I’ve had to fight more battles than I care to think about and this will be another one for me. I do intend to fight this and I hope to at least make a good showing. 😊 Peter or I will update occasionally or as we can but we will very occupied dealing with this over the next while. You can message if you like but please understand I won’t always be able to respond.
I know God has me either way this goes so I’m ok but I sure would love to hang around a while longer. I know my dear husband is going to need support and maybe some help as he’s dealing with the messy end of everything and trying to take care of me and the farm. Feel free to reach out to him if you can help or just give him an ear. This is a lot on him too. 423-557-1958 is his number.
Thank you to so many of you that have prayed for me and been there during my other battles. It really helped pull me thru. Let’s knock this one out of the park. ❤️ Thank you, Kristy
