Happy International Cow Day to Duncan, Duchess, and Little Debbie!

They've tested more fences than we'd like to admit and definitely keep us on our toes, but we wouldn't trade them for the world!

These big, fluffy troublemakers are some of the sweetest ambassadors for Cahaba Critters and will always take a treat (slice of bread)! They are proof that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence... especially if you knock it down first!

Fun facts: Duncan is 4 years old, Little Debbie and Duchess are about 1 year old! These hairy coos have long bangs (called a dossan) that help protect their eyes from rain, snow, wind, and insects. Despite their impressive horns, highland cows are typically curious and calm!

We are so incredibly proud of Cindy for being recognized by the Montevallo Boys & Girls Club with the Partner of the Year Award.

Cindy is truly the heart behind Cahaba Critters. Her love, dedication, and commitment to creating smiles for children is the reason this mission exists and the reason we keep doing what we do.

The joy she helps bring to kids’ faces is exactly what Critter Magic is all about — those simple moments that make children feel loved, welcomed, and special.

She gives so much of herself to make sure kids feel welcomed, loved, and special when they visit the farm. This recognition is so well deserved, and we are grateful to the Montevallo Boys & Girls Club for honoring her and the work being done through Cahaba Critters.

We’re ready for the perfect summer Saturday!
THIS SATURDAY, June 27th farm fun and activities begin at 5pm, and as the sun sets, a special movie under the stars! Watch the video below to see which movie we chose!

Admission is by donation- pay what you can- so every family has the chance to enjoy a night at the farm. Animal food and concessions available for additional cost!

What Your Money Goes Toward: The animals provide what we call “critter magic"- helping ease nervous systems, bring calm, and offer a quiet sense of understanding and connection. All money donated and events attended helps not only maintain the farm and care for the animals but provides free time here for children and families who need it most.

Bring your towels, chairs, blankets, and your favorite people for an early Fourth of July celebration!

Duncan brings the silent protector energy.
Pippen keeps everybody in line… or tries!
Clyde honks like he pays the bills.
Oliver acts confused but still runs the place.
Foghorn makes sure nobody sleeps in.
Ham Solo? Well… he’s mostly here for snacks. 🐷😂

We are always so thankful for our volunteers, like Jennifer, and her kids who are junior volunteers! They have been helping take care of the animals this week and they made a video to take you along!

On Saturday, June 27th we need extra volunteers to make our Red, White & Moo: America’s 250th Birthday Celebration & Movie Under the Stars special! You will be helping with animal encounters, supervising the bounce house and waterside, and working concessions!

In return, you’ll get a FREE t-shirt and individual fun on the farm! You can stay the entire time or take a shift. We are thankful for any extra hands!❤️🤍💙

On JUNE 27th we want to celebrate YOU (and America's birthday🇺🇸) with a movie night, bounce house, water slide, and unique animal interactions!! The perfect summer Saturday!☀️

OUR WHY: Cahaba Critters was born after one of our co-founders received a life-saving double organ transplant. That second chance inspired a mission to create a place where children and families can experience hope, connection, and joy through hands-on experiences with animals and agriculture.🦙🐷

WHY THIS MATTERS: Did you know that as of 2024, there were approximately 6,000 children in the Alabama foster care system? Our farm helps fill a critical gap by creating a safe, joyful place where children in foster care can simply be kids. With community partners, we build positive memories through matching events and birthday celebrations.

For children with special needs, the need for understanding and accessible spaces is even greater. Our farm offers a calm, welcoming environment where they can move at their own pace and feel fully included!
