2-24-2010 - 7-30-2020 THUNDER boy had a great run until this morning. He was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma 2 months ago. He was under great Vet care from Dr. Nan Hack, Dr. Higgins at Smith’s, emergency surgeons at the Vet Emergency Hospital in Albuquerque and competent, careful and considered treatment at VCA Referral and Speciality Center in Albuquerque with Dr. Kitchell DVM Oncologist and her wonderful team. He lost to cancer and passed peacefully and quietly on his bed this morning.
He didn’t lose often! Coyotes nipped at his heels once when he didn’t know that routine too well but after that he always had them on the run. I heard them this morning but at a good distance. Alerter to snakes, killer of rodents, gentle with injured birds, loved to sit on your foot and be petted and brushed and how he loved to make noise and clown around. He had a real dog’s life here with us after his rescue from Espanola. Friends and neighbors and family all have stories …when he ate Crissy’s new baseball batting gloves; how he would waltz right into Melodie’s house; visiting Brownie, Two Pups and now Milo and Izzy. Friendly to a fault; smart like a fox and a bit of a Trickster as he learned to push the casement windows open with his nose and push the screen out and vanish for a while. He always came home every single time.
Remember the good times; there were many. He is buried next to my last horse, Ebony, where the morning sun or winter snow will always find them at peace here at home at the ranch with us.

One of my nephews from MO was just interviewed on MSNBC from Shanghai. He's a total brainiac so the interview was excellent. He has been in Europe....SE Asia, all over, for ever. He currently has a professorship in Shanghai. So he decided to return to Shanghai rather than the US. His plane was emptied one passanger at a time and based on deplaning interview they were either tested or cleared through to quarantine...could have been to their home but he is in a hotel near the airport. He gets feed and coffeed and can work remotely from there and he is quite chipper. He said he knows if he gets sick they have hospital capacity! Two days in a row no new cases reported. And he said everyone is being quite sane and cooperative. When his quarantine is over he will return to teaching there. Stores are opening up and life seems to be returning to more normal. It was a good news story for sure. There's hope! But remember parts of China were on lockdown for 2 months to stop the spread....not too much to ask if it means we save millions of lives.

!!! Welcome, new FB Friends !!! And for you new or faithful, longtime friends, it's time I came clean and (it's sort of hard!) tell you all I am going to be gone more and here less! I bought a brand new travel trailer and Thunder and I will be taking road trips and making adventures happen! I have changes to make to my website but for starters I took off the online availability option. Sorry (kind of) but no more last minute reservations coming in just when I was packing up to leave! You'll just have to call and actually talk to me, or email, to make a reservation. There I said it!~ Stay in touch and I will too! Thunder will be 4 next month...neither of us is getting any younger...so catch us when you can!
