"Bringing Back Your Grandmas Flowers" Built in 1919, the old farmhouse is full of character and charm and is surrounded by a beautiful flower garden, that has been bringing joy to all that visit for 50+ years. Situated next to a working railroad, you can stroll our lawn and flower garden.

I rescued these Rudbeckias right after the storm when they were completely droopy.
🌿 The Secret: If your cut flowers are shocked or wilted, put them in warm water instead of cold. The warm water helps clear out air locks in the stems and draws up way faster, hydrating them almost instantly.
I'm so glad I saved them, because this is literally just the start of the season! ✨🌻

Stepped out into the fields yesterday and the energy is amazing—everything is fit to burst! We are right on the cusp of peak bloom, and when tens of thousands of these flowers open up at once, it is truly spectacular.

22 years ago today, I lost my dad. Looking at these old photos, I’m reminded of where my love for the outdoors really started. He wasn’t a farmer, but he grew the most incredible vegetable gardens and taught me how to appreciate the land. Every day out here, I feel the roots of what he passed down to me. Missing him a little extra today. 🪵🌱☀️

Happy Memorial Day weekend! 🇺🇸🌧️✨
While the weather out here is pretty yuck for a holiday weekend, the garden is absolutely loving the rain. The flowers are finally taking off, greening up and starting to flower, the bees are tucked away working on honey, and the garlic is doing loop-de-loops (like the funky garlic scapes in this photo!).
Our ultimate goal has always been for this farm to be a peaceful place for our community to come out, slow down, and connect with where things grow. (Coming soon to the farm: fresh-cut flowers, homegrown vegetables, and honey!)
If you’re ever looking to escape the rush, we’d love to welcome you out here to visit the farm, say hi, and grab some fresh eggs.

Life on the farm is full of the highest highs and some really tough lows. 🌸 We are so excited to welcome our very first Mille Fleur d’Uccle chicks here at Matthews Flower Farm!
While one is thriving and chirping away, the other is struggling after a rough hatch. We’re doing everything we can with some life-saving measures and saying all the prayers that this little one pulls through. It’s a waiting game now, but we aren’t giving up.
Whether they grow up to be hens or roosters, we’re just hoping for two healthy birds. Send some good vibes to our nursery today! ✨🐥
