“If you’re messing up while butchering, you shouldn’t be doing it. What is wrong with you?”

Yes, that is a very real comment that I received yesterday.

Be perfect, or don’t do it at all…
What a load of 🐰💩

Processing is a skill - one that must be strengthened under a multitude of conditions.

It’s not always a simple “slice, chop, throw it in the cooler.”

Sometimes it’s:
“The hide is stuck a little tighter than usual.”
“I pulled a muscle away from the bone and now it’s dangling kind of funny.”
“I accidentally dropped a liver on the floor.”
(These get tossed. I’d love to think everyone would assume that, but this is the internet, after all…)

It’s thoroughly checking organs to make sure the meat is safe.
It’s following proper sanitation and packaging to ensure it remains sealed and bacteria-free.
It’s keeping up with science and welfare standards to give the animals the best, most humane experience all the way around.

There’s a lot to it that most people wouldn’t even think of!

Yes, we process hundreds of meat animals each year.
And yes, that does typically make us pretty good at our job.
But, until you replace us all with robots (good luck getting past the goats with that one), we’re still very real humans that are bound to make very real mistakes.

Not a single person in this field is perfect.
And, those spreading the ridiculous opinion that we have to be… couldn’t do any better themselves, if they tried.
