On June 5, join us for Earth-Friendly Fiber Arts: Soap Dishes & Kumihimo Braiding with Ann Coddington at Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery.

In this workshop, you’ll learn two time-honored techniques: Tension tray weaving and seven-strand kumihimo braiding, while creating functional, handmade pieces from start to finish.

You’ll work with reed to build a woven soap dish, then move into traditional Japanese braiding to create a decorative cord that can be used as a bracelet, lanyard, or everyday carry piece.

This is a process-focused class where technique and history meet practice, you’ll leave with finished pieces in hand and a clearer understanding of how these ancient fiber traditions continue to live through contemporary craft.

June 5 | 3:00–5:00 PM
$55 per person
Beginner-friendly | All materials included
A thoughtful afternoon of making, learning, and working with materials in a way that feels both grounded and enduring.

June is Dairy Month, Dairy Goat Awareness Week, and Pride Month — and we're showing up for all three.

The rainbow logo is back. It's a small thing, but it means something to us. Prairie Fruits Farm has always been a place where everyone is welcome — our team, our guests, our community. That's not a policy. It's just who we are.

To our LGBTQ+ team members, guests, and neighbors: you belong here. You always have.
Now go eat some goat cheese. 🐐🌈

Next week is full of hands-on classes and creative workshops at Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery.

From cooking and baking to fiber arts, gardening, and seasonal creative work, each class is designed to give you time in the kitchen, at the table, or in the classroom actually making something from start to finish.

These are small, focused sessions where you learn a process, build a skill, and leave with something you made yourself.

If something catches your eye, we recommend reserving your spot soon, many classes have limited seating and tend to fill quickly.

Something new is happening at the farm this Sunday, and we'd love for you to stop by.

We're hosting a free, drop-in kickoff event for Prairie Explorers: A Growing Season — our first-ever children's program launching June 1st. Come meet Anabelle Delgadillo, our Children's Program Director and Youth Educator, who will be set up under the pavilion with crafts and games for kids from 10am to 2pm. No tickets, no RSVP — just come as you are.

Inside the Farm Store, we'll be serving gelato floats made with Boylan sodas (while supplies last), sampling some of our favorite store finds, and sharing our award-winning farmstead cheese.

If you've been curious about Prairie Explorers, this is the easiest way to see it for yourself — and to meet the person leading it.
