HHH Beckha just delivered the 7th set of triplets from 10 ewes lambing so far this year. Set #5 had one DOA, but all the others are good and so far being raised by the ewes. I reduced my flock late fall to 12 ewes to lamb. I tried to keep the 12 best of the best of my ewes based on a combination of production traits, conformation and fleece quality. They sure haven't disappointed on the production side of things! Time will tell with the other traits. One more ewe is due anytime and one silly girl the end of May.

First time lambing triplet sisters are getting this year off to a good start! These 2 girls come from my most productive ewe line and they did not disappoint. The first had a set of triplets a week ago and the second just had another set of triplets. Excellent mothers and all are doing well. The rest of the ewes should be lambing within the next week to 10 days.

It was 1 degree F here this morning. Even though there is hay in the barn, these young resourceful ewes prefer to dig through the snow to find the grass hiding underneath!

I had a great time over the weekend at The National Gotland Sheep Show at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival. A big Thank you to the Taylor family for helping me get my sheep shown! I couldn't have asked for better help. It was great meeting and visiting with everyone. The sheep did pretty well in the show ring, too!

I've been watching the lambs develop in this very hot summer in Ohio and am trying to decide which lambs to take to the National Gotland Sheep Show in Wisconsin in September. I think this guy might be coming to the show!

I should have room for a couple extra ewe lambs and ram lambs in the trailer if anyone is interested!

A successful lambing season finished up here just over a week ago. 43 lambs are on 21 ewes. I have decided not to go to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival this year because I have too many very young lambs to feel comfortable leaving for 3 days. The lambs are all growing well and developing nicely. There are lots of boys this year, so if anyone is interested in a ram lamb I'm sure there will be some nice ones! I will also have some beautiful ewe lambs as well. I will miss seeing everyone at Maryland, but will hopefully see several Gotland folks at the National Gotland Sheep Show in Wisconsin in September.
