The origin of the XIT is tied directly to Texas history. In 1879, the Texas Legislature set aside three million acres of land in the Panhandle to fund the construction of the new state Capitol building in Austin. Brothers Charles B. and John V. Farwell established the ranch to manage and utilize this massive expanse, creating a cattle operation on a scale the West had never seen before.

Another great day at the ranch with the Texas A&M Equine Industry Tour.

We always enjoy the chance to show students a firsthand look at the cattle and horse industry and share a little of what goes into ranching, stewardship, and the day-to-day operation at XIT.

A special thank you to Paige and Jennifer for organizing the visit and bringing the group out for the second year in a row.
