Grass stalk gymnastics.

It’s impossible to miss these noisy, big insects! The current mass emergence of cicada has a significant impact on the food web; many birds shift to eating this abundant source of nourishment… and a lot of the usual prey goes uneaten.

Not a whole lot is known about the effects of the cicadas on the ecosystem, but we’re interested to be here, seeing it unfold.

It’s a legume, so does good work to fix nitrogen in the soil, and the cattle love browsing the leaves.
