You don't need a sommelier to host a great wine night. You just need a little structure.

Here's how to do it right:

1. Pick a theme: One grape, one country, or old vs. new world. Structure creates conversation.
2. Serve 3–4 wines max: More than that and palates get confused.
3. Provide water and neutral palate cleansers: Crackers, plain bread, mild cheese.
4. Go lightest to boldest: Start with sparkling or white, finish with aged red.
5. Give guests tasting notes to guide them: What to look for in aroma, texture, finish.
6. Curate, don't just buy: This is where we come in.

Stop by EB Wines and describe your group, your budget, and your theme. Esteban will build the perfect flight for your evening.

That's what curated means.

Barbera is one of Italy's most characterful grapes — naturally high in acidity, deep in color, and expressive from the start. But give it twenty years of careful aging and it becomes something else entirely.

The Cascina Grillo Igea Barbera 2006 is now beautifully evolved. The bright fruit of its youth has given way to dried cherry, leather, and earthy truffle notes, layered over a softened but still-present acidity.

The vibrancy of the grape still carries through — but in a more contemplative, tertiary expression. This is Barbera as philosophy, not just pleasure.

This is not your usual Friday wine recommendation. This is something genuinely different.

The Sopla Levante Pinomar Orange 2020 is a skin-contact white wine with a personality all its own. The aromatics open with dried citrus peel, apricot, and wild herbs, deepening into chamomile, tea leaf, and gentle spice.

But the texture is the real story — grippy yet elegant, with a savory, slightly oxidative edge that adds complexity and intrigue from the very first sip.

If you've only ever drunk conventional white wines, this will open a new door. If you already love natural and orange wines, this is a bottle you need to try.

Available for pre-order now. Limited quantity.

Orange wine is not made from oranges. Let's clear that up first.

It's a white wine made like a red — where the grape skins stay in contact with the juice during fermentation. That skin contact is what gives orange wines their distinctive amber color, grippy texture, and complex, layered character.

Why try it?
• It's unlike anything else in your glass
• The texture is the highlight — grippy yet elegant
• Aromas range from dried citrus to apricot, wild herbs, and chamomile
• Perfect for adventurous palates who want something genuinely different

Our current selection includes the Sola Levante Pinomar Orange 2020 — a skin-contact white with striking aromatics and a savory, slightly oxidative edge that gives it real complexity from the first sip.

Available now for pre-order.

Shiraz grows in many countries. But Barossa Valley Shiraz is in a category of its own.

Here's why:

🌡 Climate: Barossa is warm and dry. That warmth concentrates sugars and flavors, producing wines of exceptional richness and body.
🌱 Old vines: Some Barossa Shiraz vines are 100+ years old. Older vines = lower yields = more concentrated wine.
🍇 Character: Expect ripe dark fruit — blackberry, plum, dark cherry — layered with black pepper, cocoa, and earthy spice.
🪵 Oak: Barossa producers are masters of oak integration. It adds structure without masking the fruit.

The result? Wines that are powerful yet elegant. Dense but balanced.

Our Sorby Adams Tristan Shiraz 2021 is a perfect example — and it's available for pre-order now.

Our current old vintage selection includes:
• Cascina Grillo Igea Barbera 2006
• Château Ampelia Bordeaux 2006
• Domaine Chante Alouette-Corneil Grand Cru 2004
• Quinta do Poço do Lobo Cabernet Sauvignon Beiras 1994

Summer is officially here in Chapel Hill and the debate is very real.

Some people automatically reach for a cold white or rosé when the temperature climbs. Others say the right red — served slightly below room temp — is just as refreshing.

Where do you stand?

🍷 Team Red — always, no matter the season
🥂 Team White / Rosé / Sparkling — summer is a whites-only zone
🤷 It depends on the moment

Tell us in the comments — and if you want a personal recommendation that might change your mind, we're ready for that challenge.

Barossa Valley, Australia. One of the world's great Shiraz regions — and this bottle proves exactly why.

The palate is dense but balanced, with polished tannins and a long, warming finish. A wine built for both immediate enjoyment and short-term cellaring.

This is not a supermarket Shiraz. This is a statement bottle.
