Chicks are hatching!!

All the animals faired well thru the winter (minus a couple chickens). The sheep has been sheared and awaiting arrival of the llama shearer. Have some young friends helping around the acreage currently pulling down a shed. In the falling shed they found 5 baby bunnies (eyes open and furred out) scampering about. Things are starting to turn green and thinking about a small garden. Happy Spring to all from Long Neck Llama Ranch

Katie is adjusting so well. I had to laugh yesterday evening because all of our llama are white, except for Dottey who is brown and white. Katie is a dark brown. I was putting hay out and we have been giving her hay separately to make sure she eats as the llama have been "adjusting to having her move in". Well the FUNNY is .... the barn was dark, Katie is dark, I didn't even see her right in amongst everyone else eating - so that is a VERY GOOD thing that they are all interacting and sharing....

We've added a new member to the Tobin Family. She's a beautiful brown female llama from the Nobbs Family in Rudd. She came to live with us on September 16, 2014. I think she'll be a great addition.

First Pekin duck to hatch for me in the incubator. Had Pekin hens hatch some on the ranch, but excited for #1. Had a Buff Polish chick hatch yesterday. Incubator is full, so more to come I'm sure...candling says there is something growing in every one of the eggs. Spring is so much fun!!

Had a very exciting experience with some baby raccoons about a month ago now. Had to bottle feed them....took them to the Waterloo Wildlife Orphan & Injured animal rescue site. The people there continue to send me updates and they now have their eyes opened and are growing really fast. But here's a little memory I have of one peeping out of the "baby box"....and another hanging onto my finger....they were so precious

Yeah the snow is starting to melt and spring is on the way!! It's been a hard winter on our animals.
