Boy Scout Troop 355 - Charlotte, NC
Troop 355 currently operates at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church on Park Road. For some, you may remember its existence at Sharon UM Church in the SouthPark Community until 2017. The annual BBQ is the primary fundraiser for the troop to help cover its costs associated with monthly camping trips, Court of Honors, merit badge work and High Adventure trips.
December: The troop makes a fabulous Brunswick Stew that is frozen for sale in January. Special recipes of BBQ sauce (Eastern Mild, Eastern Hot, and Western) are cooked and bottled for sale.
January: 9,000 pounds of pork butts are smoked over hickory and oak wood during the course of 2 days in the parking lot of St. Luke’s. The cooked meat is picked and chopped for sale by the pound.
There is also a Lunch and Dinner event during that week on Friday where a BBQ plate (with baked beans & slaw) or BBQ sandwich (with chips & slaw) can be purchased.
