We're going to miss seeing everyone tomorrow, but Rime Farm will not be participating in Maine Open Farm Day this year.

Between a very full summer and some major personal life changes, we're simply not ready to open the farm to visitors the way we'd want to. Rather than do it halfway, we've decided to sit this one out.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for continuing to support our little farm. ❤️ We'll keep everyone posted on upcoming farm events, CSA updates, and market days, and we look forward to welcoming visitors in the future when things have settled down a bit.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Maine Open Farm Day!

🌿 Rime Farm is looking for interns! 🌿

We’re opening up a few apprenticeship spots here at Rime Nor Reason Farm in Charlotte, Maine, with a preferred start date around July 10.

Rime Farm is a 143-acre sustainable organic farm in rural Downeast Maine, just a few miles from the coast. We grow certified organic vegetables, berries, herbs, and fruit; raise Belted Galloway cattle, heritage hogs, poultry, and dairy goats; produce eggs, grass-fed beef, pasture-raised pork, value-added farm products, and run a CSA rooted in local food access and community connection.

Interns will get hands-on experience with real farm life, including organic vegetable production, gardening, crop care, animal husbandry, poultry care, livestock systems, herbs and teas, chicken processing, equine care, beef cattle, heritage hogs, and the daily rhythm of a working diversified farm.

We are especially interested in applicants with crop, gardening, vegetable production, or general farm experience. Experience is preferred, but a strong work ethic, good judgment, and a real willingness to learn matter too.

This is also a great opportunity for someone interested in dairy goats. Apprentices may help with dairy goat care and learn the basics of milking, milk handling, feeding, herd routines, and day-to-day care of a small dairy goat herd.

We’re looking for responsible people who care about animals, the land, local food, and sustainable farming and who are willing to work hard, learn, ask questions, and occasionally get horse p**p on their boots and bonfire smoke in their hair. 🙂

We offer:

🏕 Housing. (It's a farm, don't get too excited!)
🍳 Meals, including farm-grown food plus grocery staples
🌱 On-farm education and hands-on training
💵 A small stipend depending on length of stay
📅 Rolling applications
⏳ Minimum stay four weeks.

Farm work is beautiful, meaningful, messy, exhausting, funny, and oh so rewarding. We do require references and an interview so we can make sure it’s a good fit on both sides.

Interested? Apply through the NCAT/ATTRA internship listing or email your resume/letter of interest to [email protected].

Please put this in the subject line so we know you read the whole thing:

“I would enjoy horse p**p on my boots and bonfire scented hair.”

Guess who the good boy was? (These were taken after we pulled for a while. Moxie ended up in Holden to remove the ones in her gums. Stella was lucky. Jake was smart.)

Lisa Dereszewski’s story is a reminder that leadership takes many forms, in the classroom, in public service, and on the farm. At Rime Nor Reason Farm, she balances life as a farmer with her work educating students at Washington County Community College, while continuing a lifelong commitment to rural communities and service.

From public safety leadership roles to investing in Maine agriculture and education, Lisa brings resilience, perspective, and heart to everything she does. We’re proud to recognize Lisa as part of the Year of the Woman Farmer in Maine 2026.

This is new for us!

Since opening, we've offered Premium 100% Grass-Fed and Grass Finished Beef because that's what we personally enjoy and believe in. :) But we've also heard from a few customers who prefer more marbling. So we've decided to introduce a second option: Rime Farm Signature Marbled Beef

They're raised with the same commitment to quality animal care that you've come to expect from us. We've been quietly working on beef that's still pasture-raised and fed good quality forage but supplemented with a little grain to create more tenderness and marbling.

Rime Farm customers now have the option to choose the style of beef that best fits their family's needs...100% Grass Fed and Grass Finished OR Grass Fed and Grain Supplemented. 🫶♥️

Reach out if you want to be put on our waiting list or need more information! Processing dates coming up soon!

Our Signature Marbled Beef begins the same way all of our cattle do...on pasture with access to quality forage. To promote tenderness and rich marbling, we supplement with a carefully balanced grain ration while maintaining our commitment to humane, natural livestock practices. The result is flavorfu...
