Another CRAZY week at Grass Cattle Co in the books! I tell ya what, this whole farming solo thing this summer has been some sorta experience/experiment and honestly reminds me a little of the good old days when I first started this little establishment😅🫠
We got some good news and some bad news. Bad news: our beef got held up at the butcher. We thought we were gonna have it restocked today, but we’re not getting it back till Tuesday. Y’all keep selling us out month after month despite us tripling our output, which is both mildly stressful and extremely awesome. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Now some good news: I submitted a loan to my agricultural bank to buy another herd of cattle, which will help us keep growing the herd and hopefully catch up with demand. Our new freezer building is also almost up and running, including a giant walk-in freezer that’ll let us harvest a whole lot more beef at once.
The general goal here is fewer empty shelves, more full freezers, and more full bellies full of regenerative grass-fed beef. Very sophisticated business plan📈
Also got off the farm for a minute this week and went to visit my friends at Head Over Fields for a tour and talk cohosted by Vermont Land Trust. Really great seeing so many familiar faces, including a bunch of my friends and fellow Charlotte Land Trust board members 🤜🤛
And Vermont Grass Farmers Association came by the farm this week shooting 🔥🥩 content and, no joke, I think me and their chef might low-key need to start a cooking show together. Kinda like Bob Ross meets Anthony Bourdain meets Clarkson’s Farm. Except with more beef and significantly less production value.
And now for what you’ve all been waiting for: we’ll be back at the Burlington Farmers Market tomorrow, like we are every Saturday, from 9–2 grilling up our now nationwide-famous (more on that later 😜) farm-raised burgers.
And yes, we brought more this time.
Thank you to everybody who sold us out AGAIN last week. Bring your friends and show them what a good cheeseburger tastes like. They’ll never forget you.
OK, see you all tomorrow 🤠 Burlington Farmers' Market ❤️❤️❤️
