This is BIG. Well, big for me anyway.
After about 2.5 years of dreaming, planning, building a new freezer building on the farm, putting together a website, and learning more than I ever expected to know about dry ice, insulated boxes, and shipping labels, we’ve shipped our first boxes of Grass Cattle Company beef off the farm to major east coast city customers.
Five boxes. But you gotta start somewhere.
Somehow, in between all that, I’ve still been trying to run 160 acres here in Charlotte and another 70 acres at our other farm, take care of the cattle, and keep learning how to be a better farmer. I’m a first-generation farmer 10 years into it and, in the grand scheme of things, still very green at this.
I got into farming because I wanted to raise cattle, take good care of the land, and make a living doing it. I didn’t exactly picture myself becoming an amateur construction manager, e-commerce apprentice, and part-time dry ice expert. But apparently that’s farming in 2026 for me.
This project has involved a whole lot of good people, a whole lot of questions, and more learning curves than I can count. It’s a new way for us to get our 100% grass-fed beef from my farmland to folks who aren’t able to shop with us in person.
From our pastures to your plate—or, more accurately, from our pastures to your freezer.
These first shipments are a beta test. We’re putting the whole process through its paces before opening it up to more customers, and I’m pretty excited to see where this goes.
A big thank-you to the tradespeople, friends, and neighbors who brought their skills and patience to this project, the friends and family who’ve listened to me talk about it for two and a half years, our first customers, and everyone who keeps showing up for this farm. None of this happens without you.
Anyway, we ship beef now. Still getting used to saying that. 📦🥩🌱
