Mark your calendars -- the James River Horse Foundation (JRHF) is having an "Open Barn" this Saturday October 3 from 10 AM-2 PM at their facility on River Road West in Goochland County! This event is free and open to the public, so bring your family and friends. Meet their incredible horses up close and connect with the inspiring women who care for them every day.

JRHF's mission is to provide humane care, safe sanctuary and an appropriate second career for Thoroughbred horses that are no longer able to race. The also provide an established curriculum of training in equine care to non-violent felons at the VA Dept. of Corrections State Farm Work Center during their incarceration --- which encourages participants to gain self-respect, work as a team and acquire skills valuable for reentry into their communities.

This Sunday in Charlottesville!

During the Foxfield Fall Races on Sunday, October 4, we will honor the legacy of Mariann de Tejeda with the running of the Mariann de Tejeda Memorial Foundation Race. Born on April 13, 1921, Mariann de Tejeda's deep love of steeplechase racing and philanthropy, and the creation of the Foxfield racetrack, helped shape the tradition we celebrate today. With a $100,000 purse, this race is a fitting tribute to a woman whose vision and passion continue to have an enduring place here at Foxfield Races.
