One thing people get wrong about llamas: they’re just like alpacas. 🦙

While they’re closely related, llamas and alpacas serve different roles. Llamas are larger, more independent, and often used as pack or guard animals — while alpacas are typically bred for their fiber.

Similar at a glance, but quite different once you get to know them.

Did you know llamas can see nearly all the way around themselves? 🦙

With approximately 330° vision, their wide-set eyes help them detect movement quickly and stay aware of their surroundings. As prey animals, that awareness is essential — and it’s one reason they make excellent livestock guardians.

Follow along for more fascinating llama facts.
