Meet Frost & Blue

Frost is a female alpaca about 5 years old.
Blue is a male llama about 1.5 years old.

These sweet animals needed a new place to call home. We’re so grateful they found their way here, and we can’t wait to watch them settle in and thrive.

Virginia is in the middle of a serious heat wave, and our llamas and alpacas are feeling it just like we are. 🥵🦙

We’ve been thinking ahead for days like this for a while now—last year we added a splash pad as part of our heat stress plan, and today it finally got its real moment in the sun (and water 💦).

It didn’t take long for the herd to get curious, step in, and start cooling off. Simple tools like shade, extra fans, fresh water, and this splash pad make a big difference in helping animals stay safe and comfortable during extreme heat.

One thing people get wrong about llamas: they’re just like alpacas. 🦙

While they’re closely related, llamas and alpacas serve different roles. Llamas are larger, more independent, and often used as pack or guard animals — while alpacas are typically bred for their fiber.

From Farm Animal Day at Bellair Farm to the Blossom Festival at Albemarle Ciderworks, it’s been a full couple of weekends getting out into the community and sharing these animals with new faces.
