Friends,
Getting through this snow season has been nothing short of frustrating and difficult. There is no sugar coating the freezing temperatures, the thigh-deep snow, the drifts and snowbanks that leave many areas of our farm inaccessible. Hauling in ten to fifteen gallons of fresh drinking water every day, keeping six habitats safe, clean and dry for goats, chickens and pigs is exhausting. Stocking bedding and food, chasing away possums and other pests. We do it because we also get days like this. Like these 60 degree days in March. These days we reap the benefit of the hard work we do. The nesting boxes are fresh and clean, the feed is stocked and snacks are plentiful. And the eggs, well, they’re literally rolling in. Now, we rebuild shelters that just could not bear the weight of heavy snow, we gather windblow rubbish and we plan for the next friends who will join us at Flying Wagon. 45 new ladies are busy growing up and we are busy planning where they will live among our flocks.
What can you do?
Well, you can buy our eggs.
We have lots of because, well, sun. ☀️
We can accommodate orders pretty quickly, usually same day for evening pickups. Still just $6 and you can request washed/refrigerated, or straight from the nest.
And soon enough, I’ll go dust out the farm stand and we will be welcoming you in for our Saturday chats again.
Thank you to all who have become so dear to us. You make it possible for us to do this.
Sincerely,
Chicken Mama Melissa
