My newest bowl, made from a section of spalted hackberry log. The foot is red oak, I made a recess in the bottom of the bowl (originally the outside of the log), turned the oak foot and inserted it. The underside of the bowl is the original, natural surface of the log. Making this (or anything else) out of hackberry is difficult, hackberry is not very good wood, tends to be soft, spongy, not structural sound, grain tears out easily. Makes very attractive decorative items, spalting makes excellent dark streaks and dots. 7 1/2" diameter, 6" tall Available for $125.00.

Solid oak keepsake or jewery box. Walnut edge for top. 10" x 10" x 4"deep. Interior can be fitted with trays, interior boxes or dividers to suit. The oak is from an ancient tree beginning to deteriorate and endanger a home. The oak was felled, I had it sawed for lumber and dried. All the resulting lumber is spectacular, very dense, tight grain. The top is from one piece I resawed and book matched, creates a stylized owl pattern. Available for a very reasonable $140.00.

Three beauties. These cutting boards are made of walnut and oak, medium size, about 10"x15"x3/4" thick. I never throw out any usable wood! I machined all these parts from cut offs and small rippings, one is made of random pieces. Assembled with waterproof glue, processed to thickness in a wide belt sander (a wonderful and time saving machine), sanded to a beautiful smooth surface with 320 grit finishing paper. I treated these boards with a different sealer (I had been using butcher block oil) containing beeswax and vitamin E and buffed to a satin sheen. Priced at $30.00 each.

I am getting started posting my work. Everything I post will be items I have made in my shop in Chattanooga, a very serene place with a view of Lookout Mountain. All items are for sale at reasonable prices(the first item pictured, cherry bowl, is $60 00), I am not seeking to get rich, I love creating, have never done anything else, want to create more beautiful things.
