I planted my dahlias on April 30th this year which is TEN days earlier than normal. Today (August 13) I counted 55 plants that had not bloomed yet out of 220 plants. Another dozen or so had only one bloom. By the first of August, everything should be in full bloom WHAT IS GOING ON??? (I am pretty sure that doesn't mean that all the energy is going to go toward making tubers.) 90 degree days and 40 degree nights is not what dahlias want ..... and 90 one week followed by 60's the next week isn't good either.

People ask why I give flowers away for free. Besides the fact that what people pick, I don't have to deadhead, making people happy is contagious and I don't mind catching that. Here are some pics from a very happy bride who is one of the nicest and most unselfish people I have met.

I would like to extend a THANK YOU to all of the people who purchased tubers from me this year.

I would also like to remind everyone that once again, I will be giving away FREE FLOWERS. To request flowers, I will need a PICKING DATE, the QUANTITY OF BLOOMS desired, and any SPECIAL COLOR PREFERENCES needed. It will also be helpful to know the purpose for the flowers -- wedding, birthday, shut-in, special event, etc. I generally have blooms starting about July 20 with full production starting in August. A BUSY 10 hour DAY in 70 degree SUNSHINE!!!! Thank the Lord for Diclofenac Sodium, my anti-inflammatory. --- Tilled and planted the entire garden - minus 1 row of corn because I ran out of seed and minus what was planted earlier (peas, beets, chard, carrots cabbage & broccoli). Had an interesting day as the throttle cable on the tiller broke and I was limited to 60% throttle after jury rigging the thing together. . Got the corn, beans, squash, cukes, melons and 170 dahlias planted (counting 54 planted late yesterday). All I have left is 36 dahlias to plant, but had the sense to quit at 5 pm. . Also had a yellow jacket get between my glasses and me eyeballs. Glasses lit in the tilled dirt and it took me a bit to find them. Ahhhh, but the two red beers were a wonderful reward at the end of the day ...... and maybe there is a 3rd one somewhere.
