Ingadi Flower Farm

Ingadi Flower Farm Ingadi Flower Farm, formerly a grower of beautiful cut flowers, has shifted its focus to sharing their expertise. They are a beautiful and unusual flower.

They now offer flower farming and gardening knowledge through workshops, consulting services, and social media platforms. "Ingadi" is not our last name (commonly assumed). Ingadi is a South African (Zulu) word and means "garden". We love international things and this was the funnest and easiest word to pronounce! Our logo has a waterlily because our lake has waterlilies.

Shout out to for yet another GORGEOUS bouquet of flowers for my mother.

I’m staying with my mom while she adjusts to life on her own and my dad adjusts to a (very nice) nursing home.

I got her a subscription of LOCALLY GROWN flowers.

If y’all need flowers in Bham, AL, does a flower stand at our old stand on Fridays, 4-7pm. You can also contact any of these flower farmers directly.

And give ‘em A LOT of luv for bringing y’all flowers in this insane weather. It’s a LOT of HARD work.

A little late, but life has been a bit busy lately.

We have some family things going on with aging parents, so I’ll probably not post much for awhile.

Everyone stay cool and sane! Enjoy this tip!

It’s by the green barn that sticks out in the road.

Locally grown flowers!!!

Grab some today. And mark your calendars for every Friday.

Day 5 of my wildflower bouquet. Not bad!

Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable and safe 4th of July. We definitely enjoyed ours.

We’ve now been a week at our new RV location (still Kansas City area). Loving the weather and wildflowers. And our hearts go out to those of you in 100F+ weather! We know what that’s like.

Gorgeous photo (swipe Instagram).

But first, PLEASE READ.

This. This is what the WHOLE idea of flower arranging and locally grown flowers (to me), is about. This is from “French Blooms”, by Sandra Sigman.

“French buy flowers as if they were selecting cheese…”. And, “Then, they and the florist choose…regionally sourced…to create an arrangement…”. On the spot!

Oh, and, “French florists rarely carry anything out of season…”

Love that. It means clients are aware of what is in season. Not flown in from South America during the winter… People, there ain’t NO roses bloomin’ in winter! OR February, for that matter.

Anyway, NOW look at the photo of the arrangement.
*sigh

Ending the week with a few more flowers we’ve grown on our farm from the last 4+ years.

I was really hoping I would have done well growing my own flowers in the pots I brought with us, but between a truck with a travel trailer running over 4, completely cracking 2, and displacing the other two AND the previous high-wind severe thunderstorms, I think I’ve come to the conclusion I will be buying mature plants from a nursery and just enjoying what I can attest to our next long-term RV campground (we move this coming Wednesday).

My dahlia plants are barely hanging in there. We’ll see if I get any blooms this year. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Meanwhile, I’m searching for flower farms in the area…

Once we started exploring what and when we could grow cut flowers, it seemed the possibilities were endless.

I loved some of the forms and colors that came from the tiny seeds we germinated. Little did I know that (ironically) orange is a favorite floral designer color! However, most people buying at a farm stand prefer pinks, burgundies (not red), purples, and sunflowers. The second favorite were the peach/apricot tones, which seem to be the hardest colors to find cut flowers for!

My husband made us a personalized garden flag our first year. It has since faded, but was my favorite flag. 🥰

I’ve shared we are on hiatus for selling cut flowers this year, and our current location is Kansas City, living in an RV.

Well,… we had a whopper of severe thunderstorms last night and around 1:20am I chose to spend the rest of the night in the shelter (aka Women’s bathroom at the RV park).

Ya know, the reclining lawn chairs we have work as excellent beds in a pinch!

My husband stayed with the RV and wind gusts up to 25 mph (maybe more??). 😳💨🌀

Needless to say, it was a bit of a nerve-wracking night, but we’re all fine (including everyone in the park), minus some large branches that fell but I don’t think hit anyone.

SO, I’m determined to continue sharing some of our past photos of flowers and the GOODNESS they bring to a world that feels like hurricanes and tornadoes at times.

God is good. All the time.

Continuing to look back at flowers we’ve grown throughout the years. Eye candy for the soul.

”Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.“

This quote came to mind as I’ve been looking back at the flowers we’ve grown. With so much “yuckiness” in the world today, what a great reminder to think about the good there is.

Aren’t you glad we have flowers in the world??!

Went down memory lane today.

I had a hard time reconciling the amount of flowers (and foliage) we grew!! So this week y’all can reminisce with us and enjoy the flower candy.

Yep, I miss the flowers. (But not the work! 😂)
