Casad Family Farms Organic, Biodynamic and Permaculture farm west of Madras Oregon In addition we raise hays, grains, and specialty seed crops.

Here at Casad Family Farms we use Organic, Biodynamic, and Permaculture principals to sustainably steward our 85 acres of land in Jefferson County, Oregon. 65 acres of our total land uses North Unit Irrigation water rights which provides us with clean Deschutes Basin River water to irrigate our crops. We grow mixed vegetables and root crops for farmers markets and wholesale distribution to local r

estaurants and grocery stores. We also raise homestead cattle and hogs, and fresh eggs(when available). Casad Family Farm was established in 2017 in Madras Oregon, previously Farmer Chris was farming for 9 years in Bend Oregon operating as Juniper Jungle Farm.

Hey everyone, this year we have some changes coming to how we sell our meats! Please read:

SHARES (Quarter/ Half/ Whole Animals Shares) Will be the exclusive way to access our premium pork in 2026. We know you love our bacon, and a Hog Share is the most cost effective way to stock up.

We have Spring Harvest coming up and some fat happy pigs that have been raised on our organic pastures, fed our organically raised grains.

As always our feed is FREE OF SOY, CANOLA & GMOs. The grains are raised here, by us, using our regenerative organic management.

There is no more ethically or high quality pork than this and once shares are gone, there will not be “by-the-cut” options in 2026 like in years past.

We appreciate your commitment, and we are glad to offer this as the most economical way to buy meat that creates more ease in your weekly meal prep.

There are a lot of reasons it pays off to know who grows your food, and if you can trust them. We sent our beef in for analysis by the Bionutrient Food Association and in addition to the nutrient density data, I think people should know that their meats are not filled with heavy metals from polluted soils.

3rd party testing confirmed and we hope you appreciate the effort to provide that transparency.

Yes, plants and animals update heavy metals from soil. This has implications for our mitochondrial health, oxidative stress in our bodies, inflammation, endocrine disruption, and neurological effects.

Where food comes from matters. Trusting your farmers matters.

There are a limited number of Beef & Pork Shares left for 2026 harvest. Link in bio to secure your meats!

Fertility for our soil, manure from our livestock and two neighbors. All from within a mile and half which feels to me sustainable and regenerative. Nothing being long trucked from domestic or foreign sources. Add one more season to make it 15 years and counting for the home farm here, long term organic soils growing mixed crops and rotated produces nutritionally dense products with trace minerals that you can’t produce without a living soil. So this last week I have been feeding our soil an organic food so it can feed you, our customers

Raised here, harvested here, healing soils here. This year we harvest more animals for Beef Share customers than ever before, and there are so many reasons this feels so aligned.

4 years ago when it became clear the future of water insecurity in Jefferson County would make our future as organic wholesale veggie growers not viable, we got to work to quickly pivot the farm business to survive. All the infrastructure built to do veg at scale, we had to park in the barn. Grief and fear, would the farm business survive?

For a while during the shutdowns in 2020 it seemed that shipping meats would be the answer to scale the meat business to the point where it could replace our income from veggie sales, so we ran hard that direction and created out of nothing an e-commerce site, got an industrial freezer, scaled up our USDA slaughter dates and started shipping meats. Crazy when I look back on all it took and all we did.

If possible, we want the food we grow to stay here. We want the nutrient cycle which begins with the microbes in the soil and extends to the microbes in your belly to stay here, to cycle back into this land, to close the loop.

Meat Shares are the ultimate love letter of commitment to place and the ultimate closing of the loop. When we sell meat this way, animals can be harvested here on the farm. The guts can be placed in the back of the property for the coyotes and the eagles and the bugs. Blood spills from animals back to soil. Life ends where it began. Our relationship to our community that we feed is one in which we will feed you for most of the year, we will fill your freezer. Shares customers are perennial, returning to us year after year just like we show up for you, year after year. Shares allow us to plan for the next 3 years, knowing how many mother cows we can support here.

We still ship but it feels like our future can support growth in the direction of shares, while keeps us closer to this community here, closing the loop, and providing meats at the most economical price possible.

We are now planning not just for 2026, but 2027 & 2028 because feeding you in 3 years begins today.

Almost every week we roast a chicken or two and out of that we get many meals. Night one, rotisserie chicken where everyone competes for the drumstick and thigh. Over the rest of the week the remaining carcass will make a large pot of chicken soup of some variation, and on top of that two crock pots full of broth for sipping and cooking other soups. It’s amazing how much nourishment can come from one 4-5 # chicken.

It’s really hard to find good pastured poultry and that’s why we are really grateful to partner with our friends Joe & Olivia to bring great chicken to you, along side our beef & pork.

You can order online at casadfamilyfarms.com for local delivery to your doorsteps in Central Oregon.
