My little girl, who has been getting bullied by the other chickens, is not happy with me. I red-necked the nesting boxes so she would quit hiding out on top (and pooping on EVERYTHING). At least now she will leave the coop if necessary to get away from the bullies.
Garden is mediocre. We had a LOT of spring rain that hindered my planting. Not sure what kind of crop I’m going to get but at least I’m trying. It’s also in a new spot at hubby’s insistence. If nothing else, I’m getting the area ready for next year.

Wow! A strong, powerful message for kids. Something good to share with our children before they go back to school in August (good for anytime of the year).

Well, I didn’t get to use the big tiller on the garden the other day but I did get the plants I bought in the ground. Got the tomato cages up on the tomato plants.
We’ve had several rain storms since the other day, more predicted for this coming weekend. Maybe I can till Wednesday or Thursday before the next round of rain and get some more stuff planted.
Strawberry plants bought around Mother’s Day are doing great! Hopefully, between the existing plants and the new ones, I can get some berries next year to actually do something with.
Very thankful for my son-in-law! He culled and processed my rooster for me Saturday evening. Soaked him all day Sunday in salt water. Got him in the crockpot today for bbq sandwiches tonight. Bones/scraps are in the electric roaster with veggie scraps to make stock/broth with. I’m trying!

Made it to the store this morning. Picked up green bean and cucumber seeds. Also got 2 plants each of zucchini, jalapeños and eggplants as well as 5 tomato cages. Also some items for my wild birds cause me and the cats enjoy watching them.
Got home and got the nesting boxes set up for the chickens. Gave them a treat, put up their swing again, the roost back in the coop and the small water container in the coop for my poor little girl everyone is picking on. She was quite appreciative of the water, as well as the small bowl of food. I put some Neosporin on her head as well as spraying some other chicken medicine on it that I forgot I had. Going to take her a smashed boiled egg later.
Got the 6 plants in the ground. Also retilled one row and replanted green beans. Supposed to rain tonight so that will be good for all the new stuff. Hoping hubby will get the big tiller out for me in a little bit so I can go over the garden parts that need it. Way too hard to try to do a bunch with my little battery powered tiller although it’s great for getting in around plants.
Better rehydrate if I’m going to try to work on the garden a little more this evening.

It’s another hot day with rain expected tonight. Picked up some plants from Walmart. Time to get out there and finish up the coop work, then get those plants in the ground and plant some new seeds to replace what I lost from all the rain this spring.

Today was productive. I cleaned and scrubbed the coop. Poured fresh sand when it was dry. Moved some items around in the run and raked it out. Leaving the nesting boxes out for tonight as well as their roost. Roost needs to thoroughly dry out before I put it back in. Need to get pine shavings tomorrow to put in their nesting boxes. The girls were not happy with me for keeping them out of the coop while I was cleaning it. They are laying their eggs in the sand, under protest lol.

As of yesterday, I find myself sort of unemployed. Due to not enough work, I find myself with nowhere to go now during the week. So, back to the drawing board now that the rains have stopped. Almost everything I planted drowned or washed away. I’m not giving up!

Well, getting more rain. But, managed to get a peek at the garden earlier this weekend and I noticed some corn and jalapeños had popped up as well as 1 zucchini. Hopefully, I will be able to get out there later this week before the next round of rain comes through on the weekend to give everything some tlc.
