Silkie's Farm is an alpaca breeding farm located in beautiful Chester County PA. In addition to our soft, sweet alpacas, we have a farm store open by appointment through most of the year and regular hours from September to December.

Today belongs to Fernando - the baddest boy out there. He turned 4 today. He has amazing fleece structure. He’s the first one to greet all visitors. He’s a challenge!! He tried to rip his eyelid off a year ago and thankfully it healed just fine. He is determined to be the boss of the boy field but he’s not and probably never will be. Happy birthday Fernando. We love ya.

As breeders, we are in it for the cria (baby alpacas). We are a small farm so we like to have a few each year. Alpacas have a 340 day gestation - give or take 2 weeks on either end. We had 3 boys in the spring. Two girls are due this fall. And it looks like we have 5 on tap next spring!! Woohoo. 🥳 So now we wait and keep them cool and healthy.

Did some halter training with the babies today. Halter training is super important and rather easy. And it’s fun with a friend. Beautiful day for a stroll in the neighborhood.

Happy 12th Birthday to our Dear Prudence and a belated (by 2 days) to her mini me Eleanor Rigby (2). Both are bred and due next spring. Woo Hoo.

When a friend cleans out her freezer and offers a banquet to my birds…. Ya gotta say yes. Carrie, my best guard, takes her job seriously. No one will be picked off on her duty. I love her.
