Crock & Jar Preserving the seasons to eat locally year round! We also create our own unique products, using the best of locally available produce.

By preserving more food seasonally, we build our connections with local farmers, gardeners, and other small producers and give ourselves the ability to eat a deliciously diverse, healthy diet year round. Founded by Michaela Hayes, Crock & Jar is dedicated to strengthening community connections through food preservation. We teach the techniques (fermentation, pickling and canning) and inspire folks to use these methods in order to buy more food from local farmers in season and preserve it.

Today is the last day to donate to meet Rise & Root Farm's $10,000 goal for our new community kitchen! We are less than $1,500 away and need your help to get there: http://bit.ly/2fr2NBY
What do we hope to create in our new space? We'll be inspired by our backgrounds and what we grow on our farm.
Pictured here are plum jam filled sweet buns, which inspired Michaela to start on the road to food preservation, and a variety of vinegar-based and fermented pickles. We will use the new community kitchen as a hub to teach these techniques to other food-based businesses and the community at large!

Please join Rise & Root Farm this Saturday as we offer up our farm to help process the violence from this past week and month. We invite you to get your hands dirty in the soil, feel the sun on your face, listen to the bullfrogs and the birds, and be with other great people. We'll be on the farm from 9am to 2pm, and you are welcome at any point during those hours.
