Let It Grow Farm

Let It Grow Farm Let It Grow Farm was founded in 2010 with a plot of land, some pocket change, and a bit of know how.

Our mission is to produce great tasting, healthy, authentic produce with minimal impact on the environment. Since we started, all of our produce is grown sustainably at Larison’s Turkey Farm, a historic landmark in Chester, New Jersey, and each year we improve our methods of production by growing bio-intensive produce using NO GMO seed, no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or fertilizers.

Week 22 CSA: Garlic, hakurei turnips, mini butternut squash, baby ginger, yellow onions, arugula, red onions, green tomatoes, and dry farmed fingerling potatoes.
It's the last week of our 2020 CSA and we want to extend a big heartfelt thank you to all of our members and followers! We couldn't do it without YOU! Thank you for supporting local, hours old, certified organic, no pesticides ever, no-till/low-till farming!

Week 21 CSA: Lettuce mix, green + purple beans, parsley, baby ginger, watermelon radish, garlic, dry farmed fingerling potatoes, and baby fennel.
These watermelon radishes are possibly our favorite radishes to grow! Slice one open and you'll see why; they are almost too pretty to eat!

Week 20 CSA: baby ginger, baby bok choy, shish*to peppers, mesclun mix, baby red russian kale, and arugula. Last bouquet of our flower CSA on the second slide.
Happy Fall!!! Fall is probably our favorite season for farming: Cooler weather, less weeds, less pests, gathering up storage crops to eat throughout the cold, dark winter. Fall can feel like the culmination of a season's worth of hard work. One last push before we light up the wood stove and hibernate for a month or two. This week will be the last of our flower CSA - you can dry many of the blooms you get!

Check out this beautiful mix of green and purple beans! Great for a light sautée with some garlic!

Week 18 CSA: new dry farmed fingerling potatoes, red onion, little gem mini romaine lettuce head, baby ginger, lunchbox peppers, cherry tomatoes & big tomatoes. Farm flower share on second slide.
We've harvested the last of our honey. Winter squash is just days from harvest. Fall greens are popping out of their insect covers. Storage crops are getting cleaned and prepped for long term storage. Fall tends to start early for Farmers!

Week 17 CSA: Tulsi basil, new dry farmed fingerling potatoes, shiso, onion, red beets, shish*to peppers, little gem mini romaine lettuce, and big tomatoes. Farm flower CSA bouquet on the last slide.
Our potatoes have successfully done the delicate dance of dry farming. Dry farming means we don't irrigate at all, we rely completely on rain to water the plants. In dry farming, yields tend to be lower, but flavor tends to be higher! These aren't your usual Burbank Russet Idaho storage potatoes. Harvested before the potato plant dies back and begins to form a hard skin for storage. No thick skins on these babies, no peeling required! Cut any big ones up and roast the rest whole. Varieties are Russian Banana and French Fingerling.

Week 16 CSA: cherry tomatoes, rainbow carrots, garlic, new dry farmed fingerling potatoes, big tomatoes, pimento and lunchbox peppers, and baby ginger. Farm flowers on the last slide.
This thin skinned baby ginger is perfect for sauces and marinades. Freeze it and shave it over some vanilla ice cream. Ginger carrot soup, garlic ginger chicken, you can't go wrong! Spicy and more pungent flavor than traditional thick skin storage ginger. Stalks are great for teas and soups!

Week 15 CSA: Shallots, magenta lettuce head, lunchbox peppers, new dry farmed fingerling potatoes, big tomatoes, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, & basil. Farm flower bouquet on the last slide.
Take a look at these cucumber cuties! Cucumbers are always a challenge for us between the cucumber beetles, the bacterial wilt that the beetles spread, and the pythian fungus that can decimate young plantings -- it's never a guaranteed crop. Enjoy this little sample, if all continues to go well there will be much more coming!

Week 14 CSA: Lunchbox peppers, little gem mini romaine lettuce heads, new dry farmed fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, tropea onions, and lettuce mix. Close up of our sweet lunchbox mix on slide 2, and this week's farm flower bouquet at the end.
Power is back on this week and we are rolling along. We just started seeding some of our fall greens and roots. Pepper season is here in full force with the arrival of our lunchbox peppers! This sweet pepper mix is our go-to from our friends at Johnny's Seeds and is well-suited for our no-till system.

Week 13 CSA: Shish*to peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, shiso, mix of garlic, cippoloni onion, and shallots.
We had a wet and wild week with Tropical storm Isaias barreling through our area. Thankfully our power was restored just in time to get our CSA together and out to our members. This week features all the ingredients needed to make one of our favorite dishes: tomato sauce! Make a lil' homemade pizza, or a delicious pasta dish, or maybe even some bruschetta - the world is your culinary tomato oyster! Thanks for following along and supporting local, hours old, certified organic, no pesticides ever, no-till/low-till farming!

Week 12 CSA: Celery, patty pan squash, komatsuna greens, cherry tomatoes, fresh red onion, shish*to peppers, red beets, new fingerling potatoes, and little gem mini romaine lettuce. Farm flower bouquet on second slide.
Tomatoes are humming along, lunchbox peppers are ripening, cucumbers are climbing up their trellis, alliums are curing, fall crops are about to get transplanted and seeded. We are in high summer. Workload is big, pest pressure is high, days start early to avoid the heat. It's all worth it for this bounty to share!

Week 11 CSA: Hakurei turnip, rainbow carrot bunch, cherry tomatoes, Italian basil, Tropea onions, Tulsi basil, shish*to peppers, & magenta lettuce head. Farm flower bouquet pictured on the last slide.
This classic Italian basil is fantastic - and it's JERSEY basil! Jersey stand up! This strain is actually bred by our very own Rutgers University. They've developed several new downy mildew resistant strains of basil, and so far, so good!
