🐦 You don’t need a fancy setup to raise quail successfully.

I’m living proof of that.

When I started, all I had was some rough-cut lumber, a saw, and an idea. I built my first cage frame myself and ordered hardware cloth online. Later, I added the cage above it as the flock grew.

For feed and water? Just a quart chick waterer and a basic chick feeder.

P**p trays? A couple of old yard signs someone was throwing away.

After I realized I enjoyed raising quail, I started watching Marketplace and eventually found a used GQF commercial cage setup for $400. It’s old, a little bent, and definitely not winning any beauty contests—but it still does exactly what it’s supposed to do: hold birds and help produce eggs.

Is it pretty? No.

Is it functional? Absolutely.

Don’t let social media convince you that you need thousands of dollars in equipment to get started. Start with what you have, improve as you go, and let the birds pay for the upgrades.

At the end of the day, the quail don’t care if their cage is fancy—they care that they’re fed, watered, safe, and well cared for.

A handy PSA for the upcoming warmer months: If your eggs come in and you find they are already warm to the touch, go ahead and put them straight in your incubator! Leave your turner off for the first three days to let the air sacs settle then incubate as usual.

🎉 I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it! 🎉

Sorry for the late post, but we’ve got something worth celebrating here at Quail and Manna Farm!

After getting back from celebrating my daughter’s birthday (her big day is tomorrow 🎂), we checked the mailbox and found an envelope we’ve been waiting on…

Our NPIP certification card has arrived! 🐣

This is a huge milestone for our farm and a big step forward in our commitment to providing healthy, quality birds and eggs. We’ve worked hard to get to this point, and we’re thankful for everyone who has supported us along the way.

Thank you, Lord, for another blessing and another door opened for our little farm. ❤️

Now it’s time to keep growing, keep improving, and keep providing the best we can for our customers.
