Little recap of my long day in my hives yesterday! This winter I came out with 6 of my 11 hives. Main cause appeared to be wax moths. It was interesting bc a couple hives were still very weak but a few were packed with bees so I was fortunate to make a few splits using several of the queen cells I found in one of my strongest hives. So far I’ve mainly let the bees keep the honey so they go into the winter with enough resources to survive. This July I’m really hoping to have my first good year of a honey harvest so fingers crossed! 🍯🐝📖

Growing up, I remember visiting the food bank at our local church. There was no need to talk about why we were there — it just wasn’t something we ever discussed. And the more I think about it, I don’t think it was a coincidence that we never saw anyone while we were there.
Recently, as I read about the current state of SNAP benefits, it brought me back to those days — to my mom doing everything she could to make sure we were fed. Now, at a time when we’re fortunate enough to give back, we’ve decided to turn our little farm stand into a small food pantry.
Please take what you need or leave what you’d like for others. Our kids even donated some of their 4H money to help purchase items and filled fridge with meat from their backup pig.

Yesterday we had a wonderful gentleman purchase all our frozen meat! He was in town and purposely sought out a local farm on his way back to NYC. Moments like these remind us just how meaningful our work is. We’re so grateful to meet people who care deeply about where their food comes from and the value of eating well. It’s encounters like this that inspire us to keep growing, raising, and sharing with heart. 💚

In celebration of National Agriculture Month, we will be hosting free 1/2 day farm camps for Little Ag-Venturers! All ages are welcome. Registration is limited as we will keep the sessions small for a more personalized experience. Kids can look forward to learning about gardening, bees, farm animals, and more. Boots are recommended and camps will be held rain or shine. We look forward to hosting more events this year for the community!
