Acorn Acres Farm (formerly Welcome to My Garden) provides you with high-quality food cultivated in sustainable ways on our small family farm. We offer organically-fed and humanely-raised pork, lamb, poultry, and beef. Our beef is 100% grass-fed, and our lamb is 95% grass-fed (we believe sheep need a small amount of grain). We sell fruits and vegetables that are straight from our garden, grown with

no pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. We supply honey from bees that gather pollen from our farm's non-GMO, untreated, and diverse plant-life.

Spring is very clearly here and we are loving all of the fresh, locally-grown vegetables available at the store right now! Stock up on:

🥒Cucumbers: Grab a few for a crisp salad plus a couple more for pickling.

🫜Radishes: Do as the French and slice the radishes in half, spread on a small smear of softened A2 butter, and top with salt. Delicious!

🥬Head & leaf lettuce: Nothing completes the perfect sandwich like farm-fresh lettuce, grass-fed cheese, and local bread.

🍓Strawberries & rhubarb: Stock up on strawberries (first of the season!) and rhubarb for your homemade pies. Did you know rhubarb freezes incredibly well?

Have you tried our whole pasture-raised chicken? If you're used to skinless boneless breasts, trust us: when you cook a whole chicken with bones and skin intact, the result is amazing flavor with even the simplest of cooking methods. Our chickens are raised on a mix of pasture and soy-free, non-GMO, organic feed, which makes for some very tasty meat! 🍗

Not only are whole chickens flavor-packed and easy to prepare, but they are the most sustainable way to enjoy chicken by helping reduce food waste (the backs make a great base for soups!). Plus, they’re great for meal prep — roast a whole chicken and use it throughout the week.

Dust off your grill and cook up our pastured-raised beef patties. Serve them on our fluffy burger buns and top with your favorites, like local cheese, spinach, mushrooms, and more. Still thinking about our “Easter Egger” eggs we posted about last week? Fry one up to make your burger extra creamy! Looking for the perfect side? Bake or fry some homemade sweet potato fries.

Have you tried our colorful “Easter Egger” eggs? 🍳🐔

No two eggs are ever the same! Our free range, pastured laying hens all have a different diet consisting of foraged bugs and greens, as well as certified-organic, soy free, non-GMO feed. (This costs about 10 times more than standard feed, but we think it’s well worth it!)

🐖Say hello to our farm’s latest newcomers: rare heritage breed baby pigs! They’re currently rooting around their enclosure, feeding off foraged bugs and highly-nutritious, rich pasture. This is how they’re filling their bellies for now, with the option to eat certified-organic grains as well.

Raising pastured pigs in a forested rotation is good for the animals, good for the land, and results in more flavorful nutritious meat for you!

🍄‍🟫 Did you know that we often have fresh locally-sourced oak-log-grown shiitake, morels, and other mushrooms during spring? They’re delicious on their own or added to stir-fries, soups, pasta, or on our sourdough pizza crusts (12 or 14”).

Our certified mushroom hunter is careful about sustainably harvesting mature mushrooms to allow for spore release (aka, mushroom reproduction) and leave some behind to continue the cycle.

Happy Day, Earth! At Acorn Acres Farm, we see every day as Earth Day, but today we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate all the ways you help us protect our home:

👜 Last week was the first time in a year that we’ve had to re-stock our grocery bags. So many of you have helped by bringing in your own reusable bags!

🍯 Thank you for returning your honey jars! We take all returned honey, lard, and tallow jars, sterilize them thoroughly, and repurpose them. Every effort helps!

🍳 Many of you recycle our egg cartons and it goes a long way to protecting our planet and keeping trash out of landfills!

👩‍🌾 By shopping local, you’re helping to significantly reduce carbon emissions, lower transportation pollution, and decrease packaging waste, amongst so many other benefits. We appreciate you being here!

Even after decades of farming, the seasons never cease to surprise us! This spring is the first time we've had such an abundance of greens so early in the season, especially spinach, but also mixed greens, mixed leaf lettuce, arugula, kale, mustard greens, and more.

One of our favorite ways of using spinach is by baking delicious spanakopita — the spinach comes together beautifully with our local green onions, fresh dill, and feta cheese between flaky sheets of phyllo. One of our regulars also swears by spinach alongside our sockeye salmon fillets or you can even whip up a quick spring pesto with spinach, ramps, and olive oil.
