1/3/23 need help with vet bills
It has been a tough month. We are on our way to the vet, fourth time in a month. We have lost 3 dogs since Thanksgiving. This is unbearable but something we signed up for. We run Petite Trésors Rescue & Sanctuary, a 501c3 nonprofit dog hospice for abused, handicapped & senior dogs. We put Beebo, age 17, down in November because his quality of life was so bad and he was in pain. He was with us 9 years. He had been suffering with a multitude of issues and we are all about quality over quantity of life. I myself have a DNR so I think about the quality all the time.
December 20 we brought in Rocky, a 9 year old having an issue with his paw. He was almost a year when we took him in. After 3 prescriptions he refused to eat or drink and after further testing yesterday, they found advanced kidney disease and recommended he be also put to sleep. Christmas Day we lost Oliver, 17, with us 9 years, healthy & happy to the end he died in his sleep with us in bed.
Today we brought in Polar Bear, 6, with us a little over a year, with a hematoma on his ear and he will have surgery tomorrow.
As 2 seniors living solely on social security we do our very best, however, we are dependent on donations for the shelter and they are few and very far between.
It takes a village and we need help. If anyone can empathize with this situation, please consider donating to our cause. We have already borrowed money from family for these vet bills but need considerable more.
Thank you so much for your support and sharing.
