Let’s introduce and welcome our newest Brewer, Aaron Mayer!
Aaron is a well experienced local and we couldn’t be happier to have him become a part of our team here at Jägerhund Brewing.
Aaron the fly fishing and fermenting enthusiast, is originally from Ashland, Ohio and after graduating High School he joined the Air Force which in 2007 landed him in Cheyenne, WY- a place he is proud to call home. This journey started with Aaron’s desire to drink something different from “Coors, or Bud” and the only way for him to get what he wanted was to make it!
In 1995 there weren’t too many options for craft on the market, and home brewing became a hobby of his from then and throughout his career in the military. Aaron’s first home brew was an Irish Red, and at the time he thought it was pretty dang good- looking back he suggests maybe it was just okay. But like all good things come with time!
In 2012 after retiring from the military he began bartending for Freedom’s Edge Brewing Co. for about a year. At the time Aaron was working for them, one of their now owners/ brewers, Joel Emerick, had just been hired on as well, learning the ropes of all things beer! Joel is now a staple in our brewing community here in Cheyenne, and Freedoms Edge is still thriving today.
Then, comes Danielmarks Brewing Company who hired Aaron as their Brewer once they opened. He continued to brew for them for the next 3 years ( Prickly Pear Wheat) until he was offered a position as the assistant distiller, at Pine Bluff’s Distilling. Well, in the meantime of this big transition- now part owner/ master brewer, Ryan Willson took over brewing for Danielmarks and then opened what is now known as Blue Raven Brewery! Small town huh?
Within a year at Pine Bluff’s ( Oat Whiskey) he moved up to be the head distiller for the next 6 years!
Now today, we are eager and proud to have Aaron as our brewer. He is skillful, filled with knowledge, has respect and a passion for the state and community we serve, and so much more. His ideas and willingness to bring Fred’s beer visions to life gives me no doubt we will take on this coming chapter with grace.
Cheers!
