Let's talk about Earth Overshoot Day: the point in the year when humanity has used more natural resources than the Earth can regenerate in one year.

This happened last week. We're only halfway through the year.

That can feel overwhelming, but this isn't about guilt or anxiety. It’s about awareness.

None of us can fix everything on our own, but each of us can make choices that move us all in the right direction. Small choices, big impact.

Refilling instead of rebuying, repairing instead of replacing, reducing waste where we can, and supporting businesses that are trying to do things differently.

At The Unwaste Shop, we get to see those choices happen every day, and it’s a reminder that meaningful change starts with ordinary people making intentional decisions.

Yesterday was something really special.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our Community Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up in Beverly such a success.

To our nonprofit partners, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and every single person who stopped by, dropped off items, donated, asked questions, and supported the event...thank you.

Together, we diverted materials from landfills, connected neighbors with incredible local organizations, and showed what’s possible when a community comes together around sustainability.

This event was about so much more than reuse & recycling. It was about making it easier for people to take action, supporting organizations doing important work every day, and proving that small actions can create meaningful change.

We’re especially grateful to all of the organizations that gave up their Saturday to educate, collect materials, and serve our community. Your passion and dedication are inspiring.

Shout out to the MPBHBA for hosting Bevapalooza in an effort to help businesses during one of the slow J months, we are thankful for the effort and grateful that we were able to add a new feature this year!

And to everyone who attended: thank you for believing that a cleaner, more sustainable South Side is worth building together.

We can’t wait to do more events like this! 💚

Not only are we doing the Community Reuse and Recycling Popup with our wonderful nonprofit friends up at Beverly Unitarian Church/The Castle, we're also hosting friends in store!!

Come see our friends Jennifer Rodriguez, Maru l Flower Cultivation l Workshops and The Good Root Grove Co., a herbal based wellness brand who will all be hanging out with us!!

We need your help, friends. Please read 💚

We're so excited to be partnering on the Bevapalooza Reuse & Recycling Popup next weekend on July 18th from 11-3pm at Beverly Unitarian Church in coordination with the larger festival in Beverly.

5 different non-profits (Cradles to Crayons Chicago, EcoShip Chicago, Habitat for Humanity Chicago, Reduce Waste Chicago and Earth Paint) will be collecting over 75 different waste streams. Everything from clothes (all sizes and condition), contact lenses, empty kids food pouches to dry markers, rubber bands, amazon mailers and bubble wrap, old Latex Paint, plus tools and household goods. SO many things.

We're so excited to bring these non-profits to the area, but we could also use some help to make it happen.
