For this event, I’m creating TWO oyster tastings inspired by Puerto Rico.

My dad’s family is from Las Marías, with flavors that bring me back to the west side and Cabo Rojo.

My mom’s family is from Santurce, with memories of going to Piñones for frituras and food fresh off the grill.

I can’t wait for you to try my sofrito butter roasted oysters, charred right on the grill.

I’m also bringing back the TONSTADA for one night only:

Mango ceviche de camarón over a crispy fried tostón with tomato-garlic aioli.

Your ticket includes:

• Two oyster tastings
• A salsa lesson with Studio E
• A welcome traguito
• Sponsor tastings
• Drink specials

Additional oysters will be available for purchase after 5 PM.

Choose one raw and one roasted tasting, or double up on your favorite.

WE BACK! 🇵🇷🦪

Next Saturday!
September 12th,
we’re bringing a little island air to Chicago at
The Dandy Crown.

And yes, we’ll have salsita for the oysters,
but we’re also having a
REAL salsa class led by the incredible Studio E
bringing their energy straight from Humboldt Park.

We’ll start with a beginner-friendly salsa lesson,
keep dancing with a full hour of salsa,
then turn the patio into an island party with reggaetón, perreo and sounds from across the Caribbean.

Expect RAW oysters with el sabor de la isla,
like we’re sitting by the water in Cabo Rojo,
and grilled oysters inspired by the beach en Piñones.

Come for the oysters.

Stay for the music, the dancing and an incredible night on one of Chicago’s most beautiful patios.

OYSTERS OF THE OYSTER SOCIAL 🦪
PART ONE

Yes, the Oyster Social is about having fun, being together, and celebrating community, but the oysters will always be the heart of it.

I love oysters because they can be so simple and still leave so much room for creativity. Give the same oyster to ten different chefs and you’ll get ten completely different stories.

That is what I wanted people to experience.
Oysters from different points of view, shaped by the cultures, neighborhoods, memories, and flavor profiles that make Chicago one of the greatest food cities in the world.

Raw, cooked, smoked, spicy, bright, rich, and sometimes completely unexpected. Every chef brought a piece of themselves to the shell, and that is the true meaning of Chicago style.

This post is for the food.
The creativity.
The details.
And, of course, the beautiful oysters themselves.
