Head down to Woven+Bound at the Marriott Marquis Chicago and try their new summer cocktail menu, including my personal favorite, “The Red Line,” featuring Cohasset Punch blended with cognac, lemon, house-made Pomegranate grenadine and Maraschino liqueur.

You can enjoy Cohasset Punch in a spritz or in a cocktail…or, you can just add ice! Cohasset Punch since the 1890s has typically been served stirred with ice and strained into a cocktail glass.

The “Little Harbor” is bright and refreshing—a vodka soda kissed with tart lime and the rich stone fruit flavors of Cohasset Punch. You’ll never look at a vodka soda the same way again!

Little Harbor
• 1½ oz KOVAL Distillery Vodka
• ¾ oz Cohasset Punch
• ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
• 3 oz Seltzer / Club Soda

The corner of Madison and Wells in Chicago was “the Home of Cohasset Punch” for 70 years, but for a brief moment in the late-1980s and early-1990s, it was almost the site of the world’s tallest building. The Miglin-Beitler “Skyneedle” was to soar nearly 2,000 feet and 125 stories above the Loop, but investor skittishness put the project on hold, and was ultimately cancelled after the shocking death of developer Lee Miglin in 1997. If built, the Skyneedle would still be the tallest building in the US, and the 4th tallest in the world in 2026.

Cohasset Punch could very well have ended production with Prohibition, as many small specialty drink brands did. However, it was one of the few to come back after repeal due to the efforts of Carl Ladner, who had purchased the rights to the drink not long before Prohibition, and was determined to see it return. Today (May 25) would be Carl Ladner’s 149th birthday — Happy Birthday, Carl Ladner!

The “Breakwater” is Chicago’s most crushable summer cocktail! It’s perfect on the porch, on a picnic, or catching some rays out on the lake.

This cocktail showcases Cohasset Punch, a fruit-forward, rum-based liqueur created here in the 1890s, usually served chilled by itself like its own bottled cocktail. However, blend it with iced tea and lemon and you get a light and summery tall drink with luscious peach, apricot, and cherry notes.

Breakwater (Single Serving)
• 2 oz Cohasset Punch
• ½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
• 1 tsp Rich Simple Syrup (or Sugar)
• 4 oz Strong Black Tea, Chilled

Breakwater (Pitcher)
• 2 cups Cohasset Punch
• ½ cup Fresh Lemon Juice
• 3 tbsp Rich Simple Syrup (or Sugar)
• 4 cups Strong Black Tea, Chilled

Cohasset Punch is available at Binny's in Illinois and is available to ship to multiple states via Seelbachs.com.

Summer is Daiquiri season — and no, we don’t mean those bright red, strawberry slushies. A classic Daiquiri is a shaken drink with just rum, lime, and sugar — though today we’re not quite doing that either. The Cohasset Daiquiri showcases Cohasset Punch, a fruit-forward, rum-based liqueur created in Chicago in the 1890s, and blends it with white rum, lime, and simple syrup for a delicious riff on the classic with peach, apricot, and some cherry notes.

Cohasset Daiquiri
• 1½ oz White Rum
• ¾ oz Cohasset Punch
• ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice
• ⅓ oz Rich Simple Syrup

This weekend’s Chicago Cubs 🐻 / Chicago White Sox 🧦 matchup inspires the question: is Chicago’s classic Cohasset Punch a North Side ⬆️ or a South Side ⬇️ drink? You’ll be relieved (or annoyed) to find out that it’s technically neither!

FUN FACT: The first meeting of the Cubs and White Sox was during the 1906 World Series (Sox won, 4-2) ⚾️
