Up Elevated Cocktails is excited to align with the Cannabis Unity Coalition, the largest bipartisan coalition of cannabis industry activists, entrepreneurs, and grassroots policy/advocacy organizations.
This year, on April 28th through May 1st, we will be in Washington DC mobilizing for the Cannabis Unity Week of Action. This multi-day event will unite advocates, justice impacted individuals, and industry leaders to pressure congress and this administration to fully legalize cannabis and implement retroactive relief for those affected by prohibition-era policies.
Cannabis prohibition has destroyed lives, torn families apart, and fueled mass incarceration. Ending it is not just about policy - it’s about justice. We must full repeal prohibition, expunge records, and free those still behind bars.
Having attended last year’s Unity Week of Action, it ignited a fire inside of me that had always been there but with an air of uncertainty about how to channel that energy. It was powerful to be present with so many inspiring individuals, all sharing the same vision and dream for a future where the failed war of drugs is ended and justice is restored to the millions of people harmed in its wake. Never would I have imagined being in the Capitol building or in State Representatives’ offices telling my story and sharing my perspective of what cannabis legalization should look like. Even though the administration may have changed, the mission remains the same and we must continue to disrupt the status quo and advocate for true cannabis legalization and reform!
