Stephanie Goldfarb is a Chicago-based cook specializing in seasonal, (mostly) vegetarian, and multi-regional cuisine. She developed Seven Species Supper Club & Catering to use her talent in the kitchen to raise money for The Chicago Women’s Health Center (for more info, click here), and to professionalize what she has been doing casually for over ten years: ecstatically feeding people way too much

outstanding food. What to expect: Supper clubs are a great way to meet new people, eat seriously delicious food, and support one of Chicago's most valuable health care organizations serving women and trans* people. Suppers are always vegetarian, and Stephanie is more than happy to accommodate guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions if advance notice is given. The cost of tickets not only includes the meal but also entertainment! Depending on the night, guests will enjoy music from local musicians, magicians, caricaturists (what? Stephanie went to a lot of bar mitzvah's as a child), and other entertainers. About Supper Clubs
What to expect: Supper clubs are a great way to meet new people, eat seriously delicious food, and support one of Chicago's most valuable health care organizations serving women and trans* people. Some supper clubs are formal, sit-down affairs with only 10 seats at a large communal table. Other super clubs are more free-flowing, cocktail party style, with up to 30 guests. A little something for everyone. Regardless of the style, you will always be fed well, in excellent company, and you will be supporting a really, really good cause. The sit-down style supper club tickets are $65-$45 on a sliding scale. Cocktail party style tickets are $45-$25 on a sliding scale. If you are a musician, singer, entertainer, or if you have some other fabulous performance skill you might like to donate in-kind to Seven Species, you can come eat for free! Contact Stephanie for more info. I have a food allergy or dietary restriction. What about me? Good news. Stephanie can accommodate almost all dietary needs if advance notice is provided. •All supper clubs are BYOB
•All supper clubs take place in Stephanie's home in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago. Plenty of street parking available and easily accessible by CTA.
•There are only TEN seats at the table for plated dinners, first come, first served. If you are number eleven, you will be the first one on the wait list. If someone cancels, you will be contacted.
•Sit-down menus are 4-6 plated dinners. Cocktail-style menus are 7-10 rotating courses.
•Menus and supper club dates are announced about 3 weeks prior to the event and are announced on this site, the page, and by email. Click here to sign up for email alerts.
•Seven Species Supper Club & Catering is an inclusive, safe space for all people regardless of gender expression, sexuality, race, age, and ethnicity. Difference is absolutely valued at the table, but assholery is definitely not. If you can't handle that, don't come.

The next Seven Species Supper Club will be on Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th at 7:00pm. The theme of this menu is "Mexican" and you can expect to find lots of exciting produce, bright flavors, all-day-cooked sauces, and some re-interpretations of classics. I chose a Mexican theme because I wanted to highlight local produce as much as possible, and my Midwestern farmers market has a surprising array of Latin ingredients. Also because I wanted an excuse to try my hand at making horchata ice cream. Also, this menu happens to be wheat-free, admittedly not by intent, rather by the nature of corn as a staple in Mexican cuisine. Guys, so much corn! Come eat! Announcing the next Seven Species Supper Club! Saturday, May 10th at 7:00pm. This menu is my ode to the best meal in the entire world: Dim Sum. Dumplings dumplings dumplings. And small packages of highly seasoned things you wrap up and shove into your mouth in one bite. And home made noodles. Need I say more?

The next Seven Species Supper Club will be on Saturday, March 22nd at 7:00pm. And good news for all you gluten-freers, there is not one trace of wheat ANYWHERE on this menu! Although it goes entirely against my culinary grain to omit loaves of freshly baked bread from my table, designing this menu was a very welcome challenge that inspired me to think about food in a new way.

As always, this menu is globally and seasonally-inspired. I definitely am NOT offering "gluten-free" versions of dishes because they never taste as good. Rather, I focused on ingredients and preparations that are inherantly gluten-free and highlighted what this end of winter season has to offer. Which is a lot.
