Hey Cutie Pies. Happy Black History Month!

This year marks 100 years of honoring Black history in America. What started as a week dedicated to preserving Black stories has grown into a month of honoring Black American contributions and creativity throughout the years.

At Justice of the Pies, we wanted to honor the Black American legacy the best way we know how: through desserts. Black American dessert traditions were often born from necessity and passed down through generations. The Black American footways tell stories of ingenuity and community.

We are celebrating Black History Month with a special series we call 100 Years of Black History: A Sweet Tribute. Each week, we’re offering a classic Black American dessert and reimagining it with love and care.

This is a reminder that our history lives not only in books, but in our kitchens, recipes, and the food we share with one another.
