There is a woman in my neighborhood. I call her the bread lady sometimes. Her real name is Mildred. She was a school teacher in another time in her life. Now she is homeless. She is one of the many faces you see pushing a shopping cart. She scraps for a living. But she also does this... she dumpster dives for food. And when she finds extra, she leaves it by my gate for the goats. It's the most amazing thing. A lovely treat for the girls but above all a gift for me. A reminder to see the beauty in every person. EVERY PERSON. I love you Mildred!

vK Farms spent a swanky night with some fine company at Urban Wild night in The Lurie Garden. We were honored to have been invited as vendors! First pict is the load in from the hidden drive. Second shot is of our table in the Coral Room. We got to set up next to Goose Island who brought samples of their special mulberry brew! Um... yum! Chicago Honey Co-op, Crust and the fantastic, most amazing Jana Kinsman from Bike a Bee were in company too. Thanks to Libby Reed for the wonderful hospitality and Michael Thompson for the gracious recommendation! We sold every bottle of maple syrup we brought!! Whabam!

Shooosh! After a summer virtually on strike, the ladies are finally back to laying! This will be a short lived sweet spot before the winter slow down. Stock up on eggs now! Farm fresh eggs will last in your fridge for 6 months. Erick can deliver. Up charge for him to do so in fishnets... Oh and don't mind Jet. That was just to get your attention. Jet is cuter than eggs.
