Since 1948, has been a global health awareness day celebrated every year on April 7th, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization. The purpose is to call attention to health issues & spotlight the things that each individual can do to improve their health.

Drinking is just one of the many things you can do to improve your .

Benefits include:

1) Burning fat - In studies, Chlorogenic acid, a compound found in coffee beans, has been shown to boost fat metabolism. This means the body has an easier time regulating fat accumulation, as well as converting to be used as an energy source.

2) Reduce heart disease - Studies show drinking 1-2 cups of coffee per day, has an associated outcome of reduced cardiovascular risk.

3) Increased energy - It's no secret the caffeine makes you feel like you have more energy. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself how it works? Caffeine reduces the activity of a neurotransmitter called adenosine, which is responsible for putting the brakes on other neurotransmitters that have an excitatory effect. The net effect is increased stimulation aka feeling like you have more energy.

4) Reduced risk of Alzheimer's Disease - A recent study done in Australia found a link between habitual coffee consumption & a slowed progression of the cognitive disease. This study suggests that increasing coffee intake from 1 to 2 cups per day could reduce cognitive decline by up to 8% after 18 months, as well as contribute to a 5% decrease in amyloid protein (the thing that causes Alzheimer's Disease) accumulation over the same period.

5) Reduced risk of cancer - Recent studies find that coffee may lower the risk of several types of cancer, including head & neck, colorectal, breast, & liver cancer.

6) Reduced risk of Type 2 Diabetes - According to research, drinking 3-4 cups of coffee per day helps reduce a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 11%.

The Narrows is the name of a trail in Zion National Park that in part, takes you up a stream through a canyon that is just 20 feet wide, and up to 2,000 feet tall. The trail is a 16 mile out and back trail that will take you on dry ground, as well as through the stream itself. There is a shorter, 3.5 mile version of the trail available if you start at the Temple of Sinawava.

Pack your water shoes if you decide to go adventuring!

Probably the easiest way to reach Zion National Park is to fly into Las Vegas and then do the 2 hour drive Northeast. Once you arrive you'll be greeted by a sandstone carved wilderness. The park boasts 4 distinct and separate ecosystems, made possible by the fact that the park encompasses part of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert.

Located in Southwestern Utah, Zion National Park is one of the most spectacular parks in the country. This view of Zion Canyon, shot atop Angel's Landing, is like a postcard from another planet. The name Zion was chosen to bring appeal to the local Mormon population because it was feared that an unpronounceable Spanish or Native American name would deter visitors. Many hikes in this park are one-of-a-kind but none are like the Angel's Landing trail. Considered one of the most dangerous hikes in the world, this trail follows narrow ledges with 100+ foot drops on either side as it climbs out to a vista point.
