Tonight is the Minnesota Alliance of Recovery Community Organizations of Recovery Community Organizations Pride for Peers event, and I'm grateful to have helped organize it.
What many people don't know is that Ostrichized grew out of my work doing grassroots advocacy in the q***r recovery community. Through that work, I saw firsthand how powerful connection, belonging, and peer support can be - and how damaging stigma and isolation can be.
I believe recovery works best when people feel seen, supported, and understood. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working alongside people navigating substance use, mental health challenges, housing instability, and recovery. One lesson has remained constant: lasting change rarely comes from judgment. It comes from community.
That belief became the foundation for Ostrichized Brewing. More than a product, it's an extension of the work I've been passionate about for years - creating conversations, challenging stigma, and building connection around behavioral health and recovery.
Pride for Peers is a reminder that recovery isn't one-size-fits-all. Every person deserves support, dignity, and spaces where they can show up as their full, authentic selves.
Looking forward to being part of tonight's conversation and learning from so many incredible advocates, peers, and community leaders. 🌈
If you're in the Twin Cities and passionate about recovery, advocacy, or building more inclusive communities, I'd love to see you there. (virtually or in-person!!)
