Pride Month is about community. 🌈

Last week, I had the privilege of helping host Pride for Peers through MARCO. I'm grateful to everyone who joined us and helped create space for meaningful conversations about q***r recovery, belonging, and connection.

This is what happens when we come together.

Tonight is the Minnesota Alliance of Recovery Community Organizations of Recovery Community Organizations Pride for Peers event, and I'm grateful to have helped organize it.

What many people don't know is that Ostrichized grew out of my work doing grassroots advocacy in the q***r recovery community. Through that work, I saw firsthand how powerful connection, belonging, and peer support can be - and how damaging stigma and isolation can be.

I believe recovery works best when people feel seen, supported, and understood. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working alongside people navigating substance use, mental health challenges, housing instability, and recovery. One lesson has remained constant: lasting change rarely comes from judgment. It comes from community.

That belief became the foundation for Ostrichized Brewing. More than a product, it's an extension of the work I've been passionate about for years - creating conversations, challenging stigma, and building connection around behavioral health and recovery.

Pride for Peers is a reminder that recovery isn't one-size-fits-all. Every person deserves support, dignity, and spaces where they can show up as their full, authentic selves.

Looking forward to being part of tonight's conversation and learning from so many incredible advocates, peers, and community leaders. 🌈

If you're in the Twin Cities and passionate about recovery, advocacy, or building more inclusive communities, I'd love to see you there. (virtually or in-person!!)

Memorial Day used to mean drinking the most and chasing the feeling of having the “most fun.”

These days, fun looks different:
being present, grounded, and actually with myself.

Maybe it looks less wild from the outside, but it feels more real.

Clear skies. Clear mind.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
— C. G. Jung

Sometimes healing isn’t about returning to who you were before. Sometimes it’s about becoming honest enough to stop abandoning yourself.

Lately I’ve been learning that recovery and rebirth can happen at the same time.

Big updates on Ostrichized coming soon ☀️🌙

I don’t usually share things this personal here, but it’s directly connected to why I’m building Ostrichized and the kind of foundation I’m trying to build in my own life.

This was me right before egg retrieval.
It would’ve been easier to shut down or try to make everything feel one way or the other.

But it wasn’t that simple.
I was grieving a relationship and still choosing to move forward with building a future.

It was grief.
It was hope.
And I stayed with both.

I didn’t look away.

A lot of what I’m building—personally and through Ostrichized—is rooted in learning how to stay present in moments like this… not defaulting to numbness, isolation, or pretending things are more certain than they are.

For me, that’s a big part of what nonalcoholic spaces can hold too—being fully here for your life, even when it’s messy.

I know I’m not the only one figuring out how to do that.

This was me on April 13th.

About to start hormone injections for egg freezing.

I had just spent $11,271 I didn’t really have
(and by the end, closer to $17K).

I knew I wanted kids and a family.
I also knew… nothing about how it would actually unfold.

I’m gay. It’s 2026.
And I want all of it - love, partnership, kids, a full life.
So this is me, choosing to try.

(Posting this now, on the other side of retrieval.)
This is what it looks like to not look away.
(And honestly, a big part of why I’m building Ostrichized)

Stay tuned. I’ll share another update soon.
