City Foods, Inc. / Bea’s Best is a 2nd generation family owned and operated U.S.D.A inspected meat manufacturer located in the historic stockyards on the Southside of Chicago for 79 years and counting. On a daily basis, we debone truckload quantities of primal cuts of steer plates and briskets and minimally processed, high-quality whole muscle deli meats.

In 1939, Eugene Kohn founded City Foods, Inc. and began servicing restaurants out of his truck with limited meat items. In the 1950's, Eugene and his brother Rudy revamped an old butcher shop into a small distribution and manufacturing factory. They would cut meats and distribute to restaurants and wholesalers. In 1965, City Foods built a new processing headquarters at 4230 S. Racine Ave. in Chicago, where we increased volume and focused on our forte, boning out large quantities of navels. Soon after, Eugene's son, Kenneth joined the company, expanded operations/meat output, and later launched into the business of manufacturing Bea's Best raw corned beef. In 1990, we added a corning, cooking, processing, and packing room, allowing us to produce our signature meat products, as well as slice and package these favorites to customer specifications. 2006 was the end of an era, when our founder Eugene passed away. Kenneth now carries on the City Foods / Bea’s Best tradition and continue to grow today.
