The EPA has officially banned two dangerous carcinogens: Trichloroethylene (TCE) and Perchloroethylene (PCE). These chemicals, found in common household and industrial products like degreasers, furniture care items, and dry-cleaning solvents, have been linked to serious health risks including cancers, nervous system damage, and reproductive harm.

Here’s why this matters:
👉 TCE has been associated with cancers like non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, leukemia, and kidney cancer.
👉 PCE is a probable human carcinogen and a persistent environmental pollutant that can degrade into TCE.
👉 These bans aim to protect workers, consumers, and the environment from toxic exposure.

This landmark decision is part of a broader push to safeguard public health and reflects decades of advocacy, including stories like Anne Anderson’s fight for justice after her son’s leukemia diagnosis was linked to contaminated water.

As Michal Freedhoff of the EPA puts it: “The only way to keep people safe from these harmful chemicals was to ban them completely.”
