There’s a man I know.
When we first met he was young, fun, alluring, the kind of energy that just pulls you in. We had an on and off relationship over the years. Nothing too serious. Just enough to keep coming back.
Twenty years later we reconnected. He was dressed in Tom Ford head to toe. The boyish charm had settled into something deeper, confident, complex, beautiful in a way that only time can make something beautiful. Matured inside and out.
That’s the Stoan 2016. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
A blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Bianco from Cantina Tramin in Alto Adige, and when you taste the 2024 next to the 2016 you watch a man grow up in a single sitting. Both gorgeous. Completely different conversations.
This was my second visit to Cantina Tramin and somehow it hit different this time.
It poured outside. We poured inside.
The full lineup was worth the 10 hours of travel. The Epokale Gewürztraminer, Italy’s first white wine to receive a 100-point score from Robert Parker, aged six years in a silver mine. Extraordinary. The Schiava, your new chillable red for summer, easy and gorgeous. And the Chardonnay 2025, the value here will surprise you.
Dinner at Haus am Hang as the rain cleared. The kind of evening that reminds you why you follow the bottle!
