There was no plan and thank god there wasn’t. There’s no way that the trip we had would have come from Instagram recommendations (besides the trip to Tokyo sea for the alien mochi….they got me). There was no timeline, there was always another train coming, another local restaurant to walk into or room for another matcha. Our trip was everything we have ever wanted it to be. It was filled with wagyu, 7/11 visits, sake giggles, Zach’s obsession with the efficiency of the city and fat restaurant cats.
This trip opened my eyes to how rich my life has become. Not in money by any means (shout out the cheapest seats and credit card points🙌🏼). Rich in love because I got to experience something that 16 year old is used to talk about while doing with the person who has walked right along side me through it all. We’ve planned and canceled this trip more times than I’m willing to admit. Never made it to a honeymoon because life happens and then we shook up our entire lives for me to switch careers. So when the idea popped up, Zach looked at me and asked what were we waiting for? Flash forward 8 weeks and we were on a crammed 14 hr flight. Our marriage survived its first international public transportation journey so I would say we are in this for life. Rich in health because I finally am prioritizing it and I have the ability to do so. Rich in life because I’ve forgotten that this life I’m living is what I’ve worked for. Rich in support because of each and every one of you that read my silly little post that make me so happy to share.
This post is my love letter to Japan and to my husband who I’m so lucky to share every table with. 🎏❤️🗻 -G💜
